Join us for Columbia City Art Walk on Thursday, March 26th from 5-9pm for Marking the Void - a tattooer based fine art show.
Marking the Void investigates the ways in which tattooers, who mark living bodies, choose to mark that which is not living and moving. How does the daily practice of working with bodies inform the imagery and energy of static art work outside of tattooing? What carries over? What is left behind? Artists Austyn McCall, Iyan G, Emma Kates-Shaw and Naia Shedd present multi-disciplinary work that bridges the gap between tattooing and fine art.
On opening night artists @thornpokes (Emma) and @poke.aaa.dots (Naia) will engage in performance-based tattooing starting at 6pm. Each artist will take a different approach to tattooing than their everyday practice, dipping into the themes present in the work they are showing.
