a scarf from my mother, wearing rings from both of my grandmothers, flowers from people that love me both romantically and platonically, standing in front of a body of work I am so proud of. I spent three years, countless nights, many years, many advising sessions, many breakthroughs, much scrappiness, no full installation space for a studio, made space anyway, made work anyway, connected anyway, built community anyway. I’m fucking beaming!!!!
Your Grandmothers Archive - a group show concept I have cooking up because I know I’m not the only one who is making or interested in making “archive” outside of institutional acceptance. The words, objects, memories and even sufferings of the women who made us deserve to be documented and extrapolated.

“When I die, what will you do with the things I never told you, and with the things you never told me.” My late grandmother Matilde wrote that in her poem “Lo Que no Sera” in 1974. With my MFA exhibition, relicQUE, I’m opening up that dialogue through speculative amber, light and expansive engagement with our shared archive.
