Basketball Goal Post: Last year we ended up with a basketball goal after hosting the Converse SGA shoe release. Unexpectedly, our little lot became a neighborhood basketball court. It’s been amazing to see an unoccupied corner become a place. Early mornings and late nights there may be people hanging out and shooting outside our shop. It’s been something pretty special over the last year.
Well, a couple weeks back, some rowdy folk decided to break the goal entirely. Broken pole, broken backboard. Total bummer. 👎
However, we ain’t goin out like that! We’ve replaced the goal and I decided to give it a custom paint job. Thunder up! Come hang out! #okc #thunderup #okcthunder #plazadistrict
“The Start of Things”
I’m so honored to have gotten the opportunity to paint this for the amazing team at @okdiversionhub . They are an organization that do real, heart-centered work that creates change that truly matters! I’m just grateful to contribute but a tiny little piece to that story.
Entirely painted with brushes and @gpwmuralpaints , this piece was installed over the course of three weeks. The concept behind it is one I still struggle to articulate with words. But I was inspired by the notion that as children, we believe in infinite possibilities. We can become astronauts or movie stars. But as we get older and the world imposes itself, we feel our paths begin to narrow and doors ultimately start to close. With this piece, I wanted to maintain that sense of optimism and offer a reminder that it’s never too late to shoot for the moon.
So I gotta thanks the amazing folks at Diversion Hub… @meaganktay@camiladesha_@sydney_m_woods and @brotherjoshuaart for the hospitality, for trusting me with this really meaningful project, and for all of the work that they do for our community in Oklahoma City. So give Diversion Hub a follow and check out their story as they move into their new space!
Thank you all for the support and now stay tuned for the next one :)

another big one in the books for the @okcthunder !!! custom skills challenge equipment, 2 passing targets and 4 stanchions total. keep an eye out for them at scissortail park before home playoff games!
gotta give MAD LOVE to @mrdylanb for helping me plan this out from the get-go and putting in a wild amount of back-breaking (🗣SPINAL) hours to help me get this done in time. definitely couldn't have done it without you!! 🫶🏻⚡️
big thanks also to @kylehixdesign for letting us use some tools that certainly made this easier! 🙏🏻 best neighbors ever! 🏆
now let's get this next win!! 💙🏀💙
The first Putt-Putt on the Plaza was a great success! 10 businesses participated this year with miniature courses throughout the district! @casey_croft@okiesongbird did a great job getting it all corralled. Hopefully this will be just the beginning of a bigger yearly event!
The Canopy OKC crew did a little standing around under the canopy hee-hawin’ and trying to figure out what to do for our course. Very rapidly an idea appeared and obstacles began to take shape. Maeve turned the old ballasts into a tiny canopy complete with signs and little pigeon. Dylan and I created a plinko gauntlet of old spray cans with a secret rat tunnel that gives you an advantageous lie. Tony went wild painting the railings and decorating the mini canopy - giving it that special touch. It is super fun!
We had great fun, and seems like the community enjoyed the event! Woo-hoo and yee-haw! ❤️⛳️🪩#puttputt #okc #plazadistrictokc
The @canopyokc crew did it again! We are so very, very, honored to have received the @ulioklahoma award for Outstanding Community Building Effort! Thank you to ULI for the wonderful award. Canopy Art Center is here for the people!
We hope our space is a hub for creativity, a safe space, a beacon, and the heart of the Plaza. We humbly accept this award for all muralist and sign painters who’s work impacts our city so greatly! Murals and art precipitate progress!

🌟 PHOTO WALK 🌟
Are you lacking inspiration? Want to make new creative friends? Or just want to nerd out on some camera jargon?
Come out April 18th from 7PM-8:30PM.
We’re meeting up at @canopyokc and then walking around @plazadistrict to snap photos of whatever inspires us.
No gear is required and the event is free! Your phone works just as good for photos (this is what I used to take photos before buying a DSLR). 😎✨
I can’t wait to see yall there!
Kristen and I love finding old photos of the Plaza and OKC! Our neighbor Derek shared some family photos of the Plaza from around 1935.
• Facing East looking toward what is @hixgas and @radbarokc . This was the first iteration of the 1930 gas station that is now @canopyokc . Route 66 was rerouted down 23rd street just north of the plaza in 1930.
• 1723 NW16th • Plez Diner and Harmon Barber shop. We’re always cooking up a batch of fresh popcorn in our machine at Canopy, it feels like it was destiny. 🍿
This property was recently purchased by @lyrictheatreokc with renovation plans in the works.
• 1935 Look at that car! Those clothes! The signs! This is looking south at Thompson’s Beauty Supply - what is now the Struble building where @noregretstattoookc is located.
• This last photo I found in the OK History Archive from 1978 Oklahoman. It is of a picture of a sign that sat in front of our gas station. The caption reads, ““One unhappy Oklahoma Cityan, disgruntled over the loss of the National Finals Rodeo and the city’s failure to attract the Oklahoma Outlaws, takes out his frustration via a convenience store sign at NW 16 and Gatewood.” 🤣
touching grass is nice, but touching flowers is even better, no? come out to @canopyokc Friday night (2/13) and help bring our big, flowery love letter to hot dogs (and love!) to life. KJ of Kane Floral Design will provide the blooms, and YOU get to place them in the arrangement! we pick 'em, you stick 'em! for 🌟free🌟 while you're here, check out the Glizzy & Glamour art show, grab a dawg from @sausagefeastokc , hit the photobooth and pick out a bouquet for your honey! 💐💐 the fun starts at 6 and goes til 10pm, see you there, doggies!
We have our first art show of ‘26 coming up! Come hang out Feb. 13th as @sausagefeastokc presents “Glizzy & Glamour!” a hot dog themed art show! ✨🌭

2025 Canopy Year End Review
What a wonderful year! We are so grateful to everyone that came through in 2025; friends, artists, family, clients, and neighbors. This year feels like a blur, but also feels like we planted a giant flag in the ground. We made a space for the community and the community made it their space.
2026 is just around the corner and the foundation is built for more great art, parties, and community collaborations. On top of managing the space, each Canopy artist is an independent contractor. Thank you to businesses and organizations who prioritize using artists to communicate their vision. This year we assisted over 30 organizations in mural installation, signage, and creation of visual assets.
Onward and upward!
