This month, caner teker is in residence with FIA. @canerteker__ is a fighter, choreographer, and survivor whose work embodies the parasitic, transformative, and autobiographical creation of worlds. Through the manipulation of space, time, and body, images emerge that reveal personal experiences beyond queerness and post-migrant identity. Their performances have been presented at Gessnerallee Zürich, the Julia Stoschek Collection, Berlin, Tanzhaus NRW, Düsseldorf, and HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Berlin. In 2025, teker was a fellow at the Kulturakademie Tarabya, Istanbul, Türkiye. They are a recipient of the 2024 ars viva prize residency.   On Monday, October 27, join us at 4pm in the Cinema in the @fogoislandinn for a screening of “remedy.”   In “remedy,” caner teker translates the performance of “killjoy” into a filmic encounter. “remedy” continues teker’s search for how grief and intimacy appear through movement and asks us how conflict can hold connection, and how love can remain within moments of rupture. Inside a theatre space, two performers move through the fragile distance between affection and conflict. Their fight becomes a choreography of care, a negotiation of touch and power. The camera stays close to gestures that shift between resistance and tenderness, tracing how the body remembers loss. What unfolds is not reconciliation, but relation in motion, unfinished and exposed. Images courtesy the artist.

PARASITES is an accompanying publication first created at dirty debüt and later at bärenzwinger berlin in 2020-2022. it reveals exhibition budgets and funding while curating texts by invited writers, among them liz rosenfeld, erkan affan, and lou drago and many more. it functions as both documentation and discursive space, with transparency as its core practice. thank you dirty debüt, bärenzwinger berlin, and all writers & contributors.

rize out now on bandcamp 🌬️ these songs were recorded at kulturakademie tarabya, istanbul, inside a former hamam later transformed into a chapel, now home to an old pipe organ. this collection brings together the tulum — a traditional bagpipe from rize, turkey, the organ, and the piano, tracing breath, pressure, and resonance across instruments. the songs move between raw takes and layered textures: two bagpipe solos, a bagpipe snippet, a drone with an old pipe organ and a piano improvisation. they lean into fatigue, persistence, residue: gestures of care and refusal, played into and out of air. these pieces are both a document and an offering. all proceeds go to the solidarity rojava fund. mastering valerie ace supported by kulturakademie tarabya, istanbul

i am beyond grateful and deeply moved to share that KIRKPINAR has been acquired by museum ostwall in dortmund in 2023. this journey has been one of blood sweat and tears. to the performers, the musicians and everyone who contributed to this work— you are truly amazing. ewa, aaron, valerie, lou, anna, isabel, raoni, rayne, élie, felipe, robin, lecken, sofie, luisa, spyros and all institutions i was honored to show my first debut at, starting with tanztage at sophiensaele 2020. this is a huge moment in my practice, and i’m filled with gratitude as KIRKPINAR finds a new beginning in an institution, within the question of how to actually archive and store a performance, even after my death. i‘m still speechless.
