After St. Agatha, Glazed porcelain cups, 2023
Edition of 40
Echoing Marie Antoinette’s mastos inspired cup, breast-like cups offer a playful vessel for drinking that users must hold until emptied. The cups also invoke St. Agatha’s martyrdom, who was tortured by having her breasts removed because she refused to become a governor’s wife. Merging humor, ritual, and bodily vulnerability into an intimate, tactile encounter with histories of desire, refusal and endurance.
Tierra de Nadie es el proyecto ganador de la primera edición del Programa Petrona, impulsado por el Departamento de Internacionalización de las Artes Nacionales del Ministerio de Educación y Cultura de Uruguay.
Comisariado por Agustina Bornhoffer, el proyecto se desarrolla en el marco de la segunda #residencia de Jorge López Galería, donde la artista uruguaya @candelabado es invitada a trabajar durante un mes en la @universidadmh de Altea.
Como resultado de esta residencia, las obras producidas serán exhibidas en la muestra Tierra de Nadie, que tendrá lugar en nuestro espacio en #valencia.
