THE ELEMENTAL presents: FRACTURED HORIZON Explorations in Light & Atmosphere This interdisciplinary exhibition brings together an international array of thirteen artists working within experimental frameworks of light, space, and atmospheric perception. Through immersive and sensorial approaches, Fractured Horizon examines how environments are shaped, dissolved, and reimagined through luminous and spatial phenomena. I carefully remove the desert topsoil, which consists of insects, bones, plant material, scat, and primarily silica—the raw material from which photographic lenses are made. Then place this material in a temporary container and lay the photographic substrate onto the prepared ground. I act as a human hourglass, letting time pass as I methodically pour the removed soil onto the surface of the paper or fabric. This durational element allows the light-sensitive material underneath to slowly record the time it takes for the displaced landscape to settle and be “exposed” by the elements of gravity, wind, time, and light. The earth acts as the camera, the raw silica the lens, and the desert functions as the focal point. For the work’s final stages, I remove the photographic material from the soil and return the land to its original condition, removing any trace of a human presence. The resultant images are vibrant blue materially direct abstractions, the color of the sky and the ocean—the earth’s counterparts. Simultaneously evoking the most advanced imagery of deep space and a birds-eye view of the melting arctic ice, these meditations resonate with our contemporary ecological condition. For me, the process remains a point of emphasis: I establish the photographic conditions for an image to be formed, but the results are created by the elements and the landscape itself. [FESTIVAL - SENTIMENT OCÉANIQUE] Pendant l’été, revoir les temps forts du printemps !  🌊✨ Retour sur le festival Sentiment Océanique au Fort du Mont Alban ✨🌊 Pendant quatre jours, nous avons plongé ensemble dans les profondeurs du vivant à travers l’exposition LUMIÈRE VIVANTE, le Bar des Sciences, les ateliers, les balades….  💡 L’exposition immersive a emmené les visiteur·ses à la rencontre des organismes marins bioluminescents. Une expérience poétique et troublante imaginée par @ant1bert1 , @jeremiebrugidou , @cameronkgainer , Nadia Merad Coliac et @elvia_teotski , sous le commissariat @christopher.yggdre et COAL.  🔬 Le Bar des Sciences, animé par Natacha Triou, a réuni artistes, scientifiques, activistes et curieux·ses autour de discussions passionnantes sur la bioluminescence, la protection des océans, l’engagement… et même un quiz de bioacoustique ! De l’imaginaire bioluminescent à la cuisine aux algues, en passant par l’observation des oiseaux marins ou la découverte des plantes liées à l’eau, ces expériences ont permis de se reconnecter autrement à la nature. [FESTIVAL - SENTIMENT OCÉANIQUE] 🌊SENTIMENT OCÉANIQUE Festival artistique sous le signe de l’Océan 🌅 Fort du Mont Alban, Nice Du 5 au 8 Juin 2025 À l’occasion de l’Année de la Mer et de la 3ème Conférence des Nations Unies sur l’Océan (UNOC 3) COAL imagine Sentiment Océanique, un festival de 4 jours ou artistes, chercheur.ses, activistes et grand public se rassemblent au Fort du Mont Alban, pour penser, ressentir et défendre l’Océan par le biais de l’art. 🪼🐚 🔍ZOOM SUR L’EXPOSITION Plongée inédite au cœur des abysses, comme embarquée au creux d’une épave, d’une cavité rocheuse ou d’un sous-marin, l’exposition au sein du Fort du Mont Alban vous plonge dans l’expérience et la rencontre avec des organismes marins bioluminescents. Les manifestations vivantes de la lumière ont toujours été un puissant motif d’émerveillement pour les humanités. Que ce soit sur terre ou sur mer, les organismes vivants capables de bioluminescence sont depuis des temps immémoriaux une source de fascination et d’inspiration.
