When someone dies, there’s no roadmap. And there’s something absurd about having to tend to logistics in the middle of grief. But if we’re lucky, and I am, we have people who help carry the weight and walk, or in my case, roll alongside us.
This ride sparked that same mix of absurdity and joy in me. I’m sharing it with you in tribute to Sandy.
My father, who lived with lasting wounds in both legs from Vietnam, carried a tremendous amount of pain throughout his life. When I think about all he endured, it amazes me how much he still found ways to laugh, to play, and to hold onto moments of joy along the road.
Please enjoy this montage of my partner and I driving my dad’s scooter across town at a very slow pace.
