It was the summer of water! I was only on my mountain bike a handful+ times this summer but I did manage to surf in 3 countries (Nicaragua, England and the U.S.)
Here are a few shots from my return trip to Nicaragua and
@riseupsurfretreats some weeks back. Iām still working on all things technique, but I have plenty of time since it should only take me a few more lifetimes to get good at surfing šāāļø
Shout out to my amazing coach from the past 2 camps
@free_franz . It took me a long while to finally learn that I should trust him every time he told me to GO when a large (to me) wall of water was rolling towards me. I now know that if Fran told me to jump off a cliff through a swarm of wasps into a sea of crocodiles, I would indeed make it and be just fine. Iād trust that guy to the depths of the sea š.
Unrelated to Fran, I did have one very close call on my biggest wave of the trip. One of my new friends didnāt see me on the wave and started to drop in. After a few frantic screams he didnāt hear, I had to pull back out of the pocket to avoid potential sudden death ;). To see what my face looks like on what could have been my last moment on earth, check the last slide. š¤£. To my friendās credit, once he saw me, he was magically able to pull off the wave, and I was able to ride it out, though it wasnāt quite the ride I was hoping for :) And⦠we both lived to surf many more waves, though none quite as big as that one. Next time!
Shoutouts to my other coach
@johnny_zuniga_ , my unexpected new surf sister
@georgi_zueri , the source of endless pitted laughter
@qtown , and
@its.foufie and the rest of the
@riseupsurfretreats team for another fabulous adventure. And big thanks to friends
@shelbystanger and
@danmullins for getting me out on waves in other locations across the globe this summer ššāāļø.
