As #DisabilityPrideMonth comes to a close, I wanted to share an article I wrote based on my experience at a disability representation panel hosted by @televisionacad in March. It's still a fresh concept that disabled individuals are just as capable as anyone else. Despite the efforts of programs and advocates, we still face major discrimination across all industries, often exacerbated by gatekeepers who claim to help us. This article reflects on the disability panel hosted by the TV Academy, my own experiences, the experiences of my friends, and offers genuine solutions rather than simply longing for more acceptance in an industry that has yet to make space for us. VIZ-ABILITY IS BACK! Bigger, better, and returning for its second season. My team and I are excited to announce that submissions for this year’s Viz-Ability will open THIS FRIDAY, May 8th, at midnight, and will remain open through October 8th at midnight. Over the coming week, we’ll be sharing more details to get you excited to participate whether you’re a first-time applicant or a returning Visionary, we’ll be outlining what to expect for Season 2. Due to a change in ownership at Radford Studio Center, this year’s premiere will not be held on the lot. However, a new event sponsor has stepped in to support Viz-Ability’s next chapter, which will be announced closer to October, leading into a January 2027 premiere. Hey, everyone! I'm doing something a little different this year. Apparently it’s my golden (31st) birthday, and the only responsible way to celebrate is with a very on-theme, very low-pressure, multi-stop day around LA to ensure friends a fair chance to join us in shenanigans.
