a little while ago someone at @kyknettv decided to give some new acting graduate their first role, and she happened to be afrikaans tv’s first trans lead. she changed my life forever.
she was kind. she was delicate. she was so vulnerable and honest. but most importantly, she was courageous. that’s something that I need to remind myself to be everyday. she taught me how to take ownership of my body. she showed me how to inhabit spaces wholeheartedly, even if it makes the ones I love most uncomfortable. she taught me that honesty with oneself is imperative in this life we live.
this #transawarenessweek i think of her fondly and i’m reminded that trans folks are the most courageous people to ever exist.

I am incredibly honoured and grateful and overwhelmed. This is crazy and very special 😭😭😭 Getting to make music for television was never on the cards so getting to be in the studio and record this track was already a beautiful gift. a Safta nomination is crazy business.
