We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of filmmaker, writer, and producer Kumaran Naidu. Kumaran has contributed to South African storytelling for over a decade. He contributed to projects like Broken Promises and Run For Your Life, among others.
His death is a great loss to the South African film industry.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the SAFTAs Lifetime Achiever and legendary actress, Cynthia Shange. Mam’ Cynthia’s illustrious acting career started in the 1970s with films like Deliwe, Shaka Zulu, Isivumelwano, Inkedama, and Muvhango. She has worked with other giants in the industry, such as the late Joe Mafela and Ndaba “Mshefana” Mhlongo.
She will be remembered as a trailblazer in the arts sector and for her poised portrayal of all the roles she took on.
