Congratulations to Zachary Bales who was sworn in today as Interim Police Chief for the @sacpolice ! We look forward to his leadership and continued commitment to serving Sacramento’s communities. 🌟 At the same time, I want to extend my gratitude to Kathy Lester for her 32 years of service in the department and leadership as Police Chief. Her dedication and steady leadership have guided the department through important moments and truly helped strengthen public safety efforts across our city.

Team Caity was thrilled to join the annual AAPI Heritage Luncheon, hosted by the City of Sacramento’s AAPI Employee Resource Group. It’s so special to be able to celebrate the diversity of our city employees, the people that keep Sacramento moving and vibrant! Happy AANHPI Heritage Month! 🌏✨

This morning in Oak Park, we had an exciting conversation with our neighbors and SacRT about current and future transit projects. While we work to increase our community resilience to climate change, we are also making it easier to access everything Sacramento has to offer- but not without your engagement and input. Thank you to SacRT @ridesacrt and Henry Li @sacrthenry for joining us today 🚊🚌🚏 and thank you to @classyhippieteaco for hosting us ☕️💕!

Today, @sacstepsforward released the results of the 2026 Point in Time Count. The numbers are clear - we have seen an increase in homelessness across the board in Sacramento County. That means we must continue to work harder, but we also see that the City’s investments in shelter, housing, and stabilization programs are giving people more places to go. At the same time, far too many people are still living without stable housing, and we can’t help them if we continue to work in silos. We need stronger regional coordination and shared accountability between the City, County, and surrounding jurisdictions, which is why I continue to support efforts like a regional homelessness Joint Powers Authority. We must keep expanding shelter, supportive services, and affordable housing while delivering compassionate and effective solutions at the scale this crisis demands. You can read the full results and access the data dashboard at

Keeping Sacramento clean is a shared responsibility, so here is some more information about how the City of Sacramento is addressing illegal dumping! While increasing consequences for illegal dumping is important, it’s equally critical that we make legal methods of disposal much easier and accessible. Together, we can keep Sacramento streets clean for everyone.

A quick 30 minute coffee break with my council colleagues and friends is perfect for a 12 hour council work day. Catching up on life and getting a few laughs in was much needed. Love them so much. 🩵

Great speaking with the Sacramento Association of REALTORS Masters Club about how Sacramento is making it easier to build ADUs through housing reforms including the Streamline Sacramento program led by the Mayor (@mayormccarty ), Councilmember Pluckebaum (@philpluckebaumd4 ), and the City’s Community Development Department. From pre-approved plans to reduced fees to faster permitting, these efforts are helping families stay in neighborhoods like Oak Park and Meadowview while expanding housing opportunities across our city. 🏡
