AGAINST ALL ODDS THE MAJORITY OF OUR EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN RECOVERED!
This was a massive coordinated effort made possible with help of neighbours and our community. Because of this, we will be refunding everyone who donated to the GoFundMe. The investigation is still ongoing, but the last few weeks have been a testament to how grassroots mobilizing can make such a huge impact. Words cannot express how grateful we are but once again THANK YOU!!
A huge thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared, and donated. A special thanks to our community who came together to launch the GoFundMe for us. We never imagined such a generous response and your help has allowed us to quickly reopen and ensure that all the scheduled events at Cafeteria continue with no strain on the local promoters and artists.
We’re opening the doors tonight to get everyone together in the space. All friends & fam local line up, we’re looking forward to seeing everyone!
**PLEASE READ**In the early hours of Friday, August 1st, our beloved space, Cafeteria, suffered a devastating and deliberate break-in and robbery. The back door was forced open, and all of our sound equipment and DJ gear (except for the speaker stacks) was stolen, along with our entire stock of alcohol.
We’re still in shock, but we’re doing everything we can to gather the gear we need to keep operating. Unfortunately, this loss places an enormous financial strain on us. Cafeteria is a grassroots project run solely by Gary (Invisible City Record Shop) and Dylan (Juice), with no outside funding. It’s been built from the ground up with love, sweat, and the limited resources of our two small businesses.
As small business owners, we’ve invested everything into Cafeteria and have yet to recoup our initial investment. This space has always been a labour of love, a hub for music, community, and culture, and we’re committed to keeping it alive.
Here is a list of stolen gear:
2x Pioneer CDJs 2000NXS2
2x Technics SL-1200MK2 Turntables
1x Pioneer DJM-A9
1x Pioneer DJM-900NXS
2x ART CX310 Precision Crossovers
3x Yorkville PX1700 Power Amps
2x Yorkville PSA1 Paraline Horn Active PA Cabinets
1x Yorkville PSA1S Powered Subwoofer
3x Yorkville PS10P Parasource 10” Powered Loudspeakers
All accompanying cables
Most of the DJ gear was owned by Invisible City Record Shop and has its logo stickered on each piece. If you see any of this equipment being resold or have any leads, please contact us immediately. The incident has been reported, and there is an active investigation underway, we’re desperate to recover our stolen gear.
To respond to this setback, we’ll be hosting a fundraiser party to replace the stolen equipment and help us rebuild. Details will be announced soon. We would greatly appreciate your support whether by attending, donating, or spreading the word.
With love,
Cafeteria
