“Self Portrait of Friends” is a Polaroid photography project where I dressed up as eight of my friends in a setting and outfit they chose for me. They then directed me to pose and interact with their environment in a way they believe they’re perceived, each having only two opportunities to capture “themselves” on camera.
This project explores how our friends shape us, while also serving as a commentary on how we perceive ourselves through the eyes of others. It offers an interesting opportunity for those depicted to take self-portraits while not being physically present in the photo itself.
Sometimes it can be hard to express how appreciative you are of the people around you, so I made this as a love letter to all my friends — both in this project and beyond — to your friends, and to all the people who shape us into becoming better through their friendship. ❤️
Thank you so much to those who participated in this project — you all jumped in with excitement and support for the idea and helped it grow into something even greater! I am very appreciative of each and every one of your collaborations on this project and of our friendships outside of it. Much love, and here’s to many more spectacular days ahead! 🥂
