We're so excited to launch the Compost Caravan DURING International Compost Awareness Week! We have two great events lined up - one focused on farmer interests, where we'll host discussions about on farm composting, where to buy local compost, AND F3 Local will be offering a training to qualify small farmers for their equipment lending program! Compost spreading equipment can be a huge bottleneck to building healthy soils, so we're really excited to highlight this resource. Two days later, on May 8, we'll gather the broader Fresno community (farmers welcome, of course) to caravan around the local Fresno compost economy - we'll see examples of urban farming and small scale composting, visit a commercial scale facility, and host demonstrations of compost application with blower trucks and spreaders. This event is free - please share far and wide! #compost #ICAW #Fresno #California

If ya didn’t know already, composting is part of my everyday rhythm — from the kitchen, to the chickens, to the green bin 🌱🐔♻️ 🧠But did ya know about law SB 1383? Since California passed SB 1383 in 2016, composting has tripled across the state — a huge win for soil, water, and climate 🤢But with 10–20% contamination still showing up in green bins, we’ve got to do our part. When in doubt, keep it out. Feeding the soil means growing healthy food, saving water, creating green jobs, and building stronger communities. Shoutout to @cacompost for keeping Cali composting 💚 #CACompost #CompostCorrectly #FeedTheSoil #ZeroWasteLiving #urbanhomestead

It’s happening! California Alliance for Community Composting would like to cordially invite you to our upcoming gallery @flowerfistmarket (1819 E Street) in Sacramento planned alongside the @keepcompostlocal Cultivating Community Composting forum and the USCC’s annual conference and tradeshow Feb 1-4, 2026. The curated art exhibition “Gathering Ground: A Celebration of Compost Art and Culture” will feature 75 artists, including: textile art, photography, watercolors, paintings, sculptures, graphic prints, ceramics, videography, and several interactive installation displays all related to composting in some way. The level of creativity is astounding, so we thank all the participating artists for being amazing. We can’t wait to share it with you. The art exhibit is FREE and will be open to the public on Sunday, Feb 1 from 2pm-5pm and again on Wednesday, Feb 4 from 12pm-5pm. We want to express our sincere gratitude to our gallery sponsor, Association of Compost Producers, @cacompost for covering the costs of the event venue, our host at Flower Fist Art Market, and to our co-organizer Institute for Local Self-Reliance’s Cultivating Community Composting forum for gathering folks from all aspects of the compost world to attend. The beauty and joy of compost art and culture will be seen by international and national community composters, USCC members, California legislators, federal and local compost policymakers, Sacramento composters and sustainable agriculture workers, friends, family, and beyond! And of course, a huge thanks to all the folks that purchased Compost-the-Empire apparel (link in bio) to support a $50 participation stipend for each artist/group included in the exhibit. Did you get your shirt yet? The art submission we selected for this official event poster was created by Adriana Ridings. (adrianaridingsdesign.com) #compost2026 See you there 👋
