Known for emotional clarity, strong storytelling instinct and a sharp sense of pace, he brings intent and impact to every cut. Over the years, he’s edited more than 20 short films, nearly 150 episodes of children’s television, close to 100 digital content pieces, an indie feature film, music videos, commercials, behind-the-scenes sporting docs and many hours of social content. His acclaimed short Boys Like You qualified for BAFTA and BIFA consideration, won multiple awards, and was praised by Shane Meadows as “a sawn-off shotgun of a short… a potent cinematic punch to the guts.” His earlier horror short Hungry Joe qualified for BAFTA and Oscar consideration, earned numerous international awards, and was named by Short of the Week as “one of the UK’s great modern horror shorts.” Most recently, True Love and Wormholes, starring Anjana Vasan and Corey Mylchreest, was part of BBC3’s Long Story Short programme and will broadcast in 2026. Collectively, Ben’s short films have received over 100 festival selections and more than 30 awards. Ben’s work includes projects for Netflix, BBC, Disney, HBO, Aardman, NatGeo, WWF and Silverback Films, including the Jackson Wild Award-winning How To Save Our Planet alongside David Attenborough: Our Planet. TEXTIMONIALS When you work in a career where contracts are short, uncertainty is relentless, and recommendations are your most valuable currency - it’s very easy to drown in self-doubt. So whenever I get some positive feedback, a lovely end-of-project goodbye, or even a simple compliment right when I needed it most, I screenshot it and save it in a folder for the days when I feel like quitting. Sometimes the best references are the ones you receive without asking. The best thing about this industry is the people. So here are a collection of my favourite “Textimonials”, from colleagues who I’m chuffed to now call friends. Thank you to everyone who has picked me up when I was down; and thank you to the extremely talented @hansquires for the inspiration to post this. PLEASE NOTE: Background stills are a selection of my favourite frames and not specific to the messages. Names and project titles have been removed to ensure anonymity.

Today, the Nation’s Grandfather, Sir David Attenborough, turns 100. I thought it was a perfect time to throw back almost a decade, to my first professional editor job, when I was given the opportunity to cut some films for the Our Planet halo - narrated by the great man himself. Here’s a quick supercut. If you’re having a tough time of it, give this a watch and a listen, and let his voice soothe you. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to work with such a genuine modern day inspiration. I also got the opportunity to meet him as a runner, and will always remember how polite and genuinely lovely he was. Just a simple cheese sandwich. #sirdavidattenborough #happy100thbirthday

| Meet the Editor Ben Williams-Butt ( @bwbedits ) "I've worked with @paulholbrookfilm on many projects over the years, and joining him on the Tor Lewa adventure was a no-brainer. The script grabbed me instantly. As always, cinematography by @jamesoldhamdop and direction by Paul gave me endless opportunity for creative freedom and the edit process was an incredibly fulfilling experience. The raw emotion in the performances allowed for some real hard-hitting moments, and a few sequences in particular allowed me to really flex my editing muscles and play with the footage. I'm pretty confident that this is mine and Paul's best work together, and I am pumped to see what is to come from the rest of the post-team. Delighted to have been a part of this wonderful film" Ben is a Bristol-based editor with over a decade of experience across drama, documentary, branded content and digital. THE EARTHSHOT PRIZE (2024) The Earthshot Prize is a prestigious global initiative championing innovative solutions to repair and protect the planet. These short films spotlight projects tackling ocean conservation, sustainable food systems, and climate resilience, showcasing the ingenuity of changemakers worldwide. Here are clips & stills from the nominee films for @hacfornatureandpeople (Winner: Revive Our Oceans) and @gayoghana (Winner: Clean Our Air). Two incredible organisations, both genuinely helping to save the world. Cut for Open Planet, under the mighty stewardship of @chrishoward001 @hopogram @nicolafayebrown and @rosie__locke . Grade by the fantastic @lb_cuts . Was a delight to be part of such an incredibly talented team on a project so full of creativity from nominees, and in our representation of them in the edits.
