SHOULDER TO SHOULDER my third album is out today 🥹
I moved into Harry’s NYC apt in March 2021. Between the hours of 9 pm and 3 am, we began experimenting with these loose ideas, as he was just learning how to use a DAW (Gearhead voice).
The rule was that after wrapping each night, we had to put the demo away and refrain from listening back until one year later. We went on to do various other projects and like, get married.
One year later, we opened a batch of 26 unfinished songs and in there was “Shoulder to Shoulder.” We recorded this album mainly in our apartment with a minimal set up and with the remote help of our brilliant musician friends:

We began the record at the inimitable Nick Millhiser’s studio. He was the most encouraging of us bringing it back home and continuing with the magic of the demo’s spirit, a “demoitis”enabler.
Harry produced the record though initially he was like, are you sure? He was still a novice with the… DAW. But he did it!! We ultimately capped the record at 10 tracks to retain its sense of discovery. Okay if anyone actually read this caption, wow, thank you.
