chat, are we still doing latergrams? π
last summer, me and the good folks at Complex made a new show for Jordan called "SNAPSHOT."
the ask was to tell immersive stories about the brandβs next generation of superstar athletes β documenting who they are when not on the field of play. our pitch was MTVβs βMy Blockβ meets β60 Minutes,β as uniquely captured through the Complex lens.
we shot with breakout quarterback DJ Lagway in the Swamp (before his tumultuous 2025 campaign). with NBA All-Star Paolo Banchero at his favorite hometown spots in Seattle. and with rising snowboarder Zeb Powell on a side mission in London.
shout out to @decaturdan who directed the series and maneuvered some [redacted] events in the U.K. to get us over the finish line. all episodes live on YouTube.

who said you cant make new friends at 35?
i met the awesome @punodostres in the most adult way -- our kids went to the same daycare. she told me about her design school and studio @ilovecreatives and i told her i wanted to hire a team to rebuild my site, after many years of messily doing it myself.
the brief was "tasteful but playful" and that i wanted it to feel like a "choose your own adventure" journey through my many creative projects. she shared different "ways in"... all of which i liked, and we spent a month frankensteining and refining them into something that felt *me*
i really like it. im really proud of it. even more so of the work ive been lucky to do for so many years. shout out to daycare. π danbuyanovsky.com
guys, last year was a CHIME of a time.
shortly after starting at complex, a project landed in my lap that became my entire personality for a calendar year, culminating in a final episode launch on december 30 (true story).
"ball on a budget" was a chime original series they'd produced in-house for two seasons before handing us the keys for season three, tapping into our talent relationships and cultural expertise.
the idea: take successful people in their field and ask them to put an outfit together for $300 or less
we produced eight episodes with a wild lineup: the utterly unstoppable teyana taylor, jeweler-to-the-stars greg yuna, wnba and nwsl greats hailey van lith and jordyn huitema, fitness influencer kendall toole, designer nigel xavier, and my boys, chris paul and joey badass.
me and my road dogs @wwwellmer@victorianajmy@katie.schultz1@chopp95@ashnicolemoss@imcalledq crisscrossed the country β LA to NY to Boston to Miami to Chicago and back β shooting these episodes, sometimes launching them within 10 days of production.
it was, how you say⦠a JOURNEY! but we survived. and now it's february.
a massive thank you to the crews across the country who made it all possible, and to the homies like @likachuu@jonah.sublette@heyjoe_a@emilymalan@smoostrowski@itsdavidcabrera@haley_minyoung_kreofsky@marquisemiller and a million more who helped shape the show into what it became.
2.8 million views later, all we can say is what a CHIME to be alive.
a few weeks before our son arrived, i wrote him a letter. a vision for his life as i could imagine it.
yesterday, i attended a support group where i connected with dads in the throes of parenting, all struggling with their own challenges but showing up for their babies and their familes nonetheless.
im grateful for the examples of good men ive seen transform into great dads, doing the essential and unglamorous work to keep the family close.
im even more grateful for the mamas who do all of that and more, often without the same recognition. not to mention sacrificing life and limb in the process.
when i was first handed Kai, i said to the doctor: "thank you."
he grabbed me by both shoulders and said: "no. thank your wife. not many people in this world would cut themselves open for you."
aint that the truth. what i also know to be true: gratitude is the most powerful emotion.
happy fifth anniversary to my beautiful wifey and bestie. this year of marriage was about watching you tap into your Earth Mother energy and carry this baby like an elite running back... leaping over fear, stiff-arming the bullshit, and scoring a touchdown on our baby. or something. i dont know, im very tired, but youre the best and always have been. β€οΈ
THE JOY OF OUR WORLD.
last week, we wrote the next chapter in our 13-year love story with the birth of our son Kai.
he is observant, playful, and beautiful. he is even larger than predicted (9lb 4oz, 52cm), and sure to be the first russian-chinese-jewish player to enter the NBA in 2042.
his arrival didn't go to plan; they rarely do. but just as he was concieved in love, he was delivered in love, too. deep gratitude to the exceptional nurses, doctors, midwives and our doula who carried us through.
we have been overwhelmed by the magnitude of his presence. every sleepless night and catastrophic diaper is worth it when we look at his eyes, his smile and his tiny, tiny feet.
we are so grateful for the community of family and friends that have and continues to lift us up.
please check in on us and expect a delayed response; we are surely covered in milk and poo.
new one for @alomoves π€
inspired by the great dorothy day: "we have all known the long loneliness. and we have learned that the only solution is love. and that love comes with community."
move your body, make a friend, itll all get better (i hope).
thanks to a special team who made it all happen.
