There's something about the way David talks about himself that I keep coming back to.
He knows exactly who he is. He understands his own nature.
"I got my own little shop — it's a shack basically. But you know. I'm happy."

David responded. He grew up with a meth-addicted father, was in juvenile hall at 13, prison at 19, and spent years lost to heroin and cocaine before finding his way out.
I drove out to his workshop with a camera and let him talk.

2025 passed in a flash, and here we are, back at it and ready to finish what we started.
Yes, it's been TOO long without an update. We know it, you know it, and you deserve the full story.
This hasn't been a walk in the park. Filmmaking isn't linear, especially independent documentary work. Stories evolve, access shifts, and sometimes life demands your attention in ways you can't ignore. After years of relentless work on this documentary, we hit a point where we needed to step back and handle what caught up with us. It wasn't the plan, but it was necessary.
Now we're back, and 2026 is our post-production year. This is when we actually make the film, when hundreds of hours of footage transform into the story we've been chasing all along. We're five years into this project now, and the amount of footage we have, the stories we've covered, is insane. Now comes the work of shaping all of that into the film it's meant to be.
A quick note on Kickstarter rewards: they're coming, but they're not our top priority right now. With a small team and limited hours, we're focused on making the film itself happen first. The rewards will follow once we've got the film where it needs to be.

Goals. Five years with this project on this day. Sometimes, there are some things that you have to do because your heart tells you to. Throughout this time, we have been through a lot. Been broke many times over, putting money into this when it should have been put elsewhere. The pressure has been jarring. Vertigo at times. It’s such a journey. But early on, we saw this very clearly. What it is and could become. Our life’s work - worth all the sacrifices and more. No compromises. The people involved; relentless, unwavering, and passionate.
