Respecting the Value of Womenās Expertiseā¦
Thereās a phrase that many female business owners have grown to dread: āCan I pick your brain?ā.
On the surface, it sounds harmless⦠flattering, even. But underneath, it often reveals a deeper issue: the undervaluing of womenās time, labor, and expertise.
As women, weāre socialized to be generous, helpful, and accommodating. Especially me! Always ready to share and let another woman know she can do it! Weāre expected to give freely, our ideas, our time and our emotional labor, without compensation or acknowledgment. This expectation my dear friends, can quietly erode boundaries and lead to burnout.
Letās be honest: when someone asks to āpick your brain,ā what theyāre really asking for is free consulting.
Theyāre seeking insight youāve spent years cultivating through hard work, risk-taking, education, and experience. And too often, they want it without investing in you the way youāve invested in yourself.
Thereās a difference between building relationships and being exploited.
Hereās the truth: we donāt owe anyone free access to our expertise. Our knowledge has value. Our time has value. And as women in business, setting boundaries around that value is not selfish ⦠itās highly recommended.
This isnāt about gatekeeping. Itās about sustainability. When we give away too much for free, we drain the energy we need to serve our paying clients, grow our businesses, and maintain our own well-being.
I am saying that respecting our own worth allows others to respect it too.
So no, you canāt pick my brain over coffee anymore (I get coffee for house abeg). But you can book a session, attend a workshop, or invest in the services I proudly offer. I promise I will give the biggest discount in the world.
And to my fellow women in business: itās time we stop apologizing for protecting our energy. Saying ānoā isnāt rude ⦠itās revolutionary.
If you are my business-friend, you should have no issues paying for my time. If you are my business-friend ⦠you should have no issues with both of us trading value.
⦠Good Morning.

For me, itās always about craftsmanship, sophistication, and the highest level of quality.
Thatās why Iām intentional about the designers I choose to work with. Itās not about noise, itās about skill and our Nigerian designers are simply the best.
Couture by Tabik ⦠phenomenal work, excellent service, and such a seamless experience (even with my wahala š).
Toun and her team guided me beautifully through the process from fabric selection (Woven Fabric ⦠the best) to revisions (barely any) and to bring this look to life.
Itās giving clean. Itās giving new era. Itās giving feet solidly planted on the ground. Itās giving grace. š„°
Iām so happy I got to look and feel this way ā¦.

A āsoft lifeā isnāt a reward for a female CEO ⦠itās a requirement. Yup! Tell them Bukky said so.
The world sees the power, the pressure, the poise⦠but behind all of that is a woman who deserves softness, ease, and moments where sheās not leading, not deciding, not carrying but just being.
Every female CEO deserves time to be an ordinary girl again ⦠to laugh without agenda, to rest without guilt, to exist without expectation.
True success isnāt just built on hustle, itās sustained by balance, joy, and the quiet luxury of simply living.
āSoft lifeā goes far deeper than aesthetics (itās truly not about private jets and designer items šµāš«).
It is about peace of mind. It is about choosing environments that donāt drain you. It is about having the financial stability to rest, not just spend. It is about setting boundaries without guilt, protecting your energy, and not constantly living in survival mode.
I pray for a soft life for all of us Girl Bosses! Have a great week!

Thereās something powerful about being called into a room not just to attend, but to contribute.
Today reminded me what it means to be seen for your expertise. Sitting alongside leaders, each intentional, each exceptional in their own field, was amazing in the best way.
The room was strong, focused, and full of purpose.
And hereās the lesson Iām taking with me:
Growth isnāt just about getting into bigger rooms, itās about becoming the kind of person those rooms require. The work you do in private ⦠you see that your discipline, your consistency, your commitment to mastery, is what earns you a seat at tables that matter.
So when you find yourself in those spaces, donāt shrink. You didnāt get there by accident.
Own it.

Be Calm.
I was talking to my friend Ruthie the other day, and we were reflecting on life ⦠where we are now, the wins, the losses, the beautiful unexpected turns. And I remember telling her, āRuth⦠Iām calm.ā
Not because everything is perfect.
Not because I have all the answers.
But because I trust the One who does.
When God blesses you, itās easy to become loud about it. Sometimes character can shift, pride can sneak in, and humility can fade. But I advise you to be calm. With a grateful heart, be calm. Let your blessings speak without you having to announce them. Stay grounded.
When things donāt go well, itās easy to react. To get frustrated. To say things you donāt mean. To stir up emotion and confusion. But I advise you to be calm. Not passive. Not weak. Just stable ⦠calm.
Being calm is self-reassurance that God has you.
That whatās for you is for you.
That what left was not meant to stay.
That delays are not denials.
That storms do pass.
Calm is strength under control. Calm is trusting God enough not to panic.
So whether you are celebrating a win or navigating a loss⦠Whether doors are opening or closingā¦
Whether youāre ahead or in the waiting seasonā¦
Be calm.
