Memorable visit to the city of Carrara — its monumental marble mountains set against the backdrop of the Ligurian Sea.
Seeing the active quarries in person changes your understanding of the material entirely. What we so often specify in slabs and samples begins here — extracted from the mountain through generations of knowledge, discipline, and craftsmanship passed down over centuries.
It is a reminder that design is not only about what we create today, but about the lineage of builders, craftsmen, architects, and stone workers whose standards and techniques continue to shape the way we build across the world.
As a design + build studio, places like Carrara challenge us to think deeper about process, permanence, and responsibility — and about the legacy we carry forward through our work, our materials, and the spaces we leave behind.

This is what I mean when I say: do what you love.
In our industry, you grow up hearing about Carrara long before you ever see it. The marble. The history. The mountains. The stories behind the slabs we specify and build with every day.
You hear about generations of Italian craftsmen and stone workers — knowledge passed down through families, through unions, through years spent inside the mountains themselves. A level of understanding and respect for material that can’t be learned any other way.
And then one day, you stand there in person.
You see the scale. The cuts through the mountain. The weight of history behind the process. The extraction of something formed by nature over millions of years and shaped by human hands with unbelievable precision.
I left genuinely speechless.
Carrara is a special place.

“what was hidden becomes the space.”
“lo que permanecía oculto pasa a ser el centro de un espacio.”
this staircase was once confined within a small, enclosed room. by opening it up, the intention shifted completely, from circulation to presence. what was secondary became the main gesture of the project.
a staircase that moves like a line drawn in air, sculptural yet grounded. light travels along its edges, shifting throughout the day and redefining its presence at every hour.
the pendant by @jan_ernst_ floats almost like a shell, suspended in balance with the architecture. below, the warmth of @listonegiordano floors anchors the composition, bringing weight and texture to the fluidity above.
in the bahamas, where light is everything.

At @alcova.milano design doesn’t exist in in isolation- it lives in conversation with it’s surrounding
Alcova reimagines how contemporary design inhabits historic and unconventional spaces, transforming abandoned sites into immersive exhibitions. It platforms emerging voices, experimental work, and research-driven practices while sparking global dialogue on sustainability, material innovation, and evolving production methods—bridging past and future.
This year’s exhibition, set within the Baggio Military Hospital, offered a compelling study in contrast—where heritage and experimentation coexist. A reminder that staying attuned to evolving design, discovering new voices, and remaining open to innovation is essential as both craft and business continue to evolve.

At a certain level, creation demands accountability. Every line, every material, every decision. And sometimes, the boldest move is starting over—refining the vision until it’s undeniable.

From a first bathroom,
to a full gut renovation,
to a townhouse,
to our first commercial project,
to serving our federal government and foreign missions to the UN,
to working in Florida and beyond —
and always coming back home to New York.
Now, building a condominium in one of the most electric neighborhoods in the city — the Lower East Side.
We’ve grown into a true design + build studio in New York City — not just a design studio, and not just a GC, but an intimate, luxury, lifestyle-driven company focused on what truly matters.
Still building. Still learning. Still pushing the standard forward.
