I’ve admired Peter Zumthor’s work since my undergrad years. I even made the trip to the Swiss Alps just to see the St. Benedict Chapel.
I know I’ll return to these galleries many times, but this first encounter made one thing clear: a project of this magnitude inevitably sparks mixed reactions from the public and professionals alike.
But listening to the conversation between Peter Zumthor and Michael Govan, all that noise faded. Zumthor is a man of few words, and he doesn’t need them. The architecture speaks for itself.
A must-visit if you live in or are passing through LA.

Starting the year, I stumbled upon this spot while trying to get to another café. Good design, good books, good coffee. One of my favorite places so far.

It’s easy to criticize a city from the outside. Living in it is the real challenge and where you learn. To understand a city, you have to live in it.
