✨🔵 Please join us this Saturday for another St. Louis Are.na Meetup, winter 2026 edition 🔵✨ Saturday, February 28, 2026 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sam Fox Gallery 6128 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis Everyone is welcome! What’s Are.na? Are.na is a website, https://are.na, and many other things… The people who run Are.na describe it this way: ( 1 ) online software for saving and organizing the content that is important to you ( 2 ) a toolkit for assembling new worlds from the scraps of the old And people who use Are.na describe it as “playlists, but for ideas” or an “Internet memory palace.” For us, it’s how we have been cultivating some of our favorite ideas and perhaps more importantly, meeting some of our favorite people associated with them… *** When? Saturday, February 28, 2026 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Coffee and croissants at 11am. Starting at 11:15am, we’ll host some channel walkthroughs! *** Where? Sam Fox Gallery 6128 Delmar Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63112 *** Who? All are welcome. This event is hosted by @roombaghost  and @bspdch  and inspired by @aredotna , and kindly hosted in St. Louis by @washu_samfoxgallery . We are also thankful to @theluminaryarts  for hosting our first meetup last fall. *** Why? It will be fun to see who is curious about or uses Are.na in the St. Louis area... Also, it’s a great opportunity to get to know each other and our city! See you there and then! 🔵✨

life update: i’ve always hesitated to identify as a designer— and typically tried to stay fairly anon “on here” outside of photo work — but i started my masters of design for hci & emerging technology @ washu this fall 🌀💻 :-)
i joined instagram a decade ago as a means to connect w other photographers and while the app has changed, I’m still here & finding inspiring work. i don’t want to publish an instagram essay or act like this is linkedin, but i’m feeling very blessed to be working with & alongside people who have been making things I’ve admired for a while now. equally excited & overwhelmed by the life pivot, everything i have to learn, and everything i get to explore. also TA’ing an experimental photo class and it’s a very welcome reminder of how formative photo classes were for me
while it’s certainly a …. weird time to be pursuing ux & web, it feels especially important as our digital spheres are feeling simultaneously omnipresent and mindless excited to join people looking to move away from the “move fast and break things” ethos of tech and hopefully instead create digital spaces more grounded in our sentient experience. continuing to explore things like relationships between aesthetics & well-being, the importance of proprioception & tactility, and how we can borrow from fields like ecology, landscape design, & urban planning. still learning to articulate this all — but i know i’m not alone in my feelings of how tech sort of just happened to us
things can certainly feel bleak & uninspiring right now, but it’s nice to see so many people working to build a better web & technological future …. & just making things that feel fun, beautiful, & light (cont in comments ~)
