Thinking about my years with Earth Wind & Fire. In 1978 Maurice White asked me to make the band look like Superheroes. In 2019 the National Portrait Gallery in Washington selected this photo for their collection. Now in 2026, QuestLove picked it for his HBO documentary out in June. Thank You Maurice. Thank You Quest.
Bob would have been 79 years old today. He left way too soon in 1981 at the age of 36. Yeah I remember we had adventures. This photograph was taken backstage in 1979. Yeah my lab man was trying with this print to come up with an interesting toning style. Think it works?
Revisiting these photographs of Stevie Wonder has been a JOY. Thank You Jennia and Sol at Art Melanated. To quote our friend, “I’ll be lovin’ you ALL DAY!”
My little book, Bruce W. Talamon SOUL R&B FUNK Photographs 1972-1982 (TASCHEN) is now FIVE years old! And it is going into its 3rd printing. In celebration of that, I am having a book signing and talk at the ANDAZ Hotel, ( 8401 Sunset Blvd. 90069…) on Wednesday November 15th from 6:00PM- 9:00PM. My slide show and talk starts at 6:30PM on the Mezzanine Level, and will go until 7:30PM.
Wishing my friend and GENIUS of a photographer @brucewtalamon more life! Happy birthday, thank you for doing “the work” each and every day!!
