Now I’m no host but when asked to host this (shades of brown) themed party, I had to come correct.
This dark camel Italian blend has been in my stash forever and a day.
Needed an overthrow cloak, something striking. I love a monochrome theme so I underlined the collar with an espresso faux leather and finished the edges with a mahogany trim.
Kept the top as a slim fit but added lots of fullness to the bottom; love a good sweep (all about the cut)…. And tad dah!💥

This was surely a journey. Lots of time spent brainstorming, sketching, chatting, started from scratch a few times…but all worth it.
One tip if you are interested in a custom bridemaid dress: 📝
➡️Carve out (at minimum) 8-10 months for bridesmaid process (for a few reasons).
A custom gown will be a lot more costly than a store bought dress. A 10 month plan allows time for your girls to gather their coins…but also allows cushion room to remedy any mishaps.
Also this time frame gives you the time to create the unique design and match the perfect fabric and color for your masterpiece (s). (Choosing/ matching colors and fabric alone can take weeks)

This was surely a journey and it paid off beautifully. We became family over the course of these last few months to bring this vision to life.
As I share the pending BTS of the process, here are a few tips when deciding on your wedding dress process: 📝
➡️ Custom vs. Store bought
While a custom gown will cost more, it eliminates the stress of shopping around for the different shapes and sizes of your party. Shopping often times involves having to tailor afterwards (added cost).
➡️ When creating a gown, the world is your oyster. You can have WHATEVER you desire so long you have the right person to execute….however this does not discount the sacrifice of the multiple fittings (time) and cost.

You were more than a second mom (you were Mama Pat), my travel buddy, my advisor, my workout inspiration, my home decor inspiration, my fashion icon, our very own (Jamaican) tour guide… and I was your Bruno.
For some reason, as many times as we reminded you that my name was Brunna… You somehow could not get the second half of my name right. So after 15 plus years I relented and accepted to be your “Brun-o”. (Figured cant beat ‘em, join ‘em)
We created countless travel memories together…. Our first trip together was about 15 years ago to Jamaica. And because my strict Haitian parents doesn’t believe in sleepovers … all I had to tell them was Im going with Mama Pat . (That didn’t stop them from trying to pull my suitcase out the car on the morning of our first trip … but eventually they caught on.)
You were a woman who understood sacrifice. You knew how to create and maximize moments. While everyone has 24hrs in their day… I used to think God somehow snuck you an extra 5 hrs because howwww is it you always managed to get everything done in such a such short time span,.. but as I reflect, I realize you were just that great a steward. You knew how, when, where and just how much. You exuded joy. You were a leader and led by example.
