Come join us for an intimate evening of conversation and healing with conversation centered around women’s health, trauma, and empowerment. There are moments when healing begins simply by realizing you are not alone. Sis, Don’t Suffer Alone is a casual evening created to bring women together through honest conversation, shared experiences, and meaningful connection. The goal is to create a safe and uplifting space where women can feel seen, heard and supported. Through powerful conversations, authentic storytelling, and community-centered fellowship, we will explore the realities many women silently carry while reminding one another that healing was never meant to happen in isolation. Whether you are navigating self-identity challenges, seeking encouragement, supporting someone you love, or simply longing for genuine independence, this evening is for you. Two weeks ago, the Reed, Write & Create Sanctuary held a Global Meet Up Day + Book Swap event! The northeast location - Philly! Reed, Write & Create Sanctuary was birthed by author @loriltharps , whose autobiographical novel I read in college, only for our lives to cross paths in my 30s! It’s a private global community for BIPoC women writers who want to get published and get paid. I joined this powerful group of women because I wanted to write more as an artistic practice and reconnect to my voice. I also wanted to learn and glean from women who’ve walked before me. What started as an attempt to compile and transcribe poems from childhood to adulthood morphed into a poetic anthology project, and I’m enjoying the process. Stay tuned❤️ We gathered, broke bread, shared stories, reflected on our writing journeys and swapped books📚. Thank you for hosting us @harrietts_bookshop 🖤 “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.” — Maya Angelou

Cheers to 2025!!!! A return to Body. A return to Voice. A return to Story. I thank God for the music of life. Let’s keep humming on purpose! Months ago, I came across a beautifully divine poem by Guyanese poet Grace Nichols called “Hummingbird”. It reminded me of purpose - in Creation, in self and in community. “Hovering in mid-air like no other -    Forward backward upward then nose             diving                        downward -   Iridescent bomber, bringing no harm to the heart of a flower -    The flower that gives up her nectar but expects you, Hummingbird, to carry the golden dust of her desire -    No wonder the ancient Aztecs named you ‘pollinating child-of-the-sun’.” With Love, E

I am full. Celebrating 37 beautiful years has been a blast so far! 🥳🥳🥳 Thank you to ALL my family, friends and FRamily for all the wonderful wishes, messages, prayers and meet ups over the weekend. You know who you are🫂. Eternal gratitude towards my beautiful mother for birthing me into this world in more ways than one. At the start of the year, I asked Jesus for a Word. He led me to 2 Peter 1:3, which says “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,…”. The Lord began to encourage me to live my life from a place of abundance and surplus vs having a deficit mindset, a position of lack. He encouraged me not to focus on what I didn’t have or see yet, but the RICH community, resources and the ever present love ❤️in me and surrounding me!🙌🏾 This weekend was a reminder of that Word. Thank you to @candehsay , whose friendship I cannot put into words, for curating a weekend of joy, fun, rest and beauty. Much much love, Elyse

Hey Friends! I’ll be performing in a play by artist, playwright and friend D.Nu. It’s a beautifully written play and I’m honored to be a part of the cast🙏🏾❤️. See eventbrite link in bio☺️ NOTHING MORE PRECIOUS is a one-night, minimalist stage play infused with dance and music, tracing the journey of two Vietnamese lovers amid the chaos of war. Blending theater and movement, it explores the weight of choice and the enduring power of love. Mingling and drinks in the cabaret room after. __________________ Written by Đ. This August, over 25 family members (🇹🇹🇺🇸) came together for our 2nd Annual Mildred Family Reunion in the beautiful island of the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴. (Mildred was my Great Grandmother’s name). We ate, laughed, swam, sang, danced, cried, played, and ATE some more! More importantly, we honored the Matriarch of my mother’s family - my beloved Great Aunt - Aunty Brenda Williams. To know her is to love and cherish her, and we sought to give her flowers while she is still with us❤️ We are here because of all those who came before us. This trip was blessed! The Roots. The Wings. The Legacy.

I’m a village child. One of my villages is the block I grew up on in Brooklyn. Every weekend, we would wake up early to play Double Dutch. My block held tournaments and folks came from all over the city. The older girls (teenagers lol) would teach us how to jump and turn, and let me tell you it was trial by fire! 😂 This Saturday, I decided to bring it back. All these beautiful people collectively showed up and brought this beloved game back to the block. Aunties came with food and drinks and Uncs cheered us on🥹😩🙌🏾♥️🤸🏾‍♀️. I didn’t catch a lot of footage of myself and we played more games than these but here are a few moments! We’ll be back for part 2 in August☺️ 2 - My new little friends 3 - My girl Markella came ready! 4 - My sis Mona playing one of the traditional Double Dutch counting games 5 - Double Dutch duo is a must. That rope didn’t want us to be great 😩 6 - Pure Joy 😃 7 - Mona with the split “pop-ups” and “mumbles” 🔥 8 - Markella killing the Scotch jump, aka “Irish,” aka “Double Irish” depending on your hood. 9 - Representing for the Brothas: Light work with the single rope fade away 🔥😂

Well, it’s still Earth Day somewhere in the world right?! 🌎 As a preteen, my mother put me in a summer camp at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens one year and it ABSOLUTELY changed the way I saw and experienced my natural environment. In the midst of NYC, I learned how to plant tomatoes, legumes, & lettuce, and spent time exploring the garden, drawing & learning the names of different types of flowers & trees, AND even learned about composting. Every day! It was one of the best experiences of my childhood. Fast forward to today, I know random facts about flowers and if I can help it - you’ll always see me barefoot in some grass, by the water and some trees 🌳🏞️☺️. It keeps me grounded and free🙌🏾. S/O @outlandish.nyc , Brooklyn’s first hiking store, which happens to be Black Owned! Last year - In annual birthday fashion - I joined a hike with them through Harriman State Park in upstate NY. These photos are from when we made it to the top of the mountain. We later swam in the lake below. It was a beautiful experience in community and nature. If anyone is in the NYC area, I definitely recommend connecting with Outlandish. Look for ways to connect to nature and let’s take care of the Earth God gave us💚.

Happy Birthday to my beautiful Mother, Lorna Molda Morris! 🎊🎊🎊 Roll: A few moments we’ve shared over the past few years❤️. Slide 3 is an original piece I found of hers when I was a child. Breathtakingly beautiful. A Tobagonian 🇹🇹 Queen, my mother is the best woman I know. I host events and everyone asks for HER! ☺️ Kind, yet direct. Loving, yet truthful. Giving, yet always living in abundance. Always radiantly authentic with an insatiable desire to grow, learn and evolve. My mother is a visual & textile artist, a carpenter, a seamstress, an educator, an organizational genius, and a life long friend to many. Thank you for teaching me about grace, patience, true beauty, sitting under the trees 🌳 , silent strength and for passing on the wisdom from God and the many women before you. What an amazing blessing from God!🙌🏾🙌🏾
