Spring has sprung, and our inner city residence is nearly ready with garden planting underway, internal spaces cleaned down and furniture arriving imminently ☀️
Located in Hereford’s Central Conservation Area, the house is built to passive standard, and shall sit nestled amongst the historic grain and patchwork of later ad hoc infill. The external roof terrace wraps around the elevated living room, taking in glimpsed views of the Cathedral and its chiming bells.

But before anything goes to site, we’ve already built it all virtually.
Every stud, every beam, every junction is modelled in full 3D - so we know it works, not just hope it works.
Most projects are like a bit of Lego.

The Hillside project is living up to its name.
With its stepped levels and bold layout, it’s got a real Aztec feel to it. This one has definitely been a bit of a head scratcher along the way, but that’s what makes it interesting.
Huge credit to the lads on the groundworks, they’ve done a cracking job shaping this out on a tricky site.
The timber frame has taken a lot of careful design by our sister company, @broadaxetimberframes , and the kit is now in production.@croftdesigncollective

Almost exactly a year ago, we stood on this site with our client, shook hands, and agreed a timber frame project just ahead of the Farnborough show.
Today, we stood in the same spot again but this time inside the building itself.
From a conversation in a clearing to a structure that’s now taking real shape, it’s hugely satisfying to see how far the project has come. A great example of what can be achieved with clear intent, good collaboration, and trust on both sides.

Complicated geometry, endless angles and absolutely nothing repetitive. The boys won’t be getting “bored” with this roof… only boarding.
