📷 Some inventions quietly change the way we see the world.
Worlds Apart, a new exhibition from the BRLSI Collection, explores early photography through rare images of Bath and China.
Francis Lockey’s delicate calotypes show Bath nearly 170 years ago, while photographs from the Second Opium War capture everyday life in China. Despite the distance, photographers focused on similar subjects: gateways, landscapes, and daily life.
Historic objects from the BRLSI collection reveal the early challenges of photography and bring these scenes into focus.
