This year marked six years of Bright Dead Things existing. Thank you to all the artists who have believed in and continue to believe in what we do. I’m sure that Bright Dead Things will evolve and change and eventually come to an end (not for a while yet I hope!) but at its heart all we want to do is work with amazing artists and make sure their music gets to the ears of everyone who likes good music. So if you’re an artist who needs promo for 2026, please do get in touch. The email is in the bio, as is the website 💓

Ahhhh… lindo! I am so happy to share this memory of our recording session with @kikodinucci last June. Today I got the vinyl’s! Already had a listen and I am very proud to share all the music with you soon! The work with Kiko is really beautiful and special to me. And also the possibility to have a musical connection to São Paulo and Brazil, is very dear to my heart. Because it is nearly 20 years ago I did an exchange to Brazil and it’s always too long since I’ve been visiting last. Have a listen. Vai ser lindo! 💙 out May 22nd

Almost a week of I Think That I Might Love You, the new album from @carla.j.easton 🎸🎸🎸 “We started writing about this idea of the red thread, the red string of fate. It’s the idea that you have more than one soulmate, platonic as well as romantic. You’re usually only going to meet people in your postcode, but with billions of people on the planet you’ve probably got soulmates all over the world. So if you find any kind of thread, that’s something really important and you should pick it up and follow it.” 🎸🎸🎸 Produced by Howard Bilerman Photos by @craigrmcintosh Released by @fikarecordings and @ernestjenning Written by Carla J Easton, with help from @darren.hayman @manoftheminch @tamara.schlesinger @simonswimmer @themartialarts @brettgnelson Thanks from me to: @theskinnymag @snackmag_ @scotnational @the.scotsman @joyzineuk @nprmusic @bbcradioscot @bbcrng @bbc6music @amylame And thank you to Carla 💓

First glimpse of 𝑩𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 — the B-side. If 𝑱𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒑𝒉, 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝑴𝒆 is the exuberant side of mystical consciousness, 𝑩𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 is the ache of it. The perma-heartbreak of sensing total union while inhabiting a separate body. The thirst to be completely known. The impossibility of living several lives at once. The constant sense of something just out of reach. I’m learning that full arrival in my life doesn’t resolve this ache. It simply gives it a home. For a soul that wants to be everywhere at once, choosing to be exactly here is its own kind of sacred heartbreak. It was really hard to cut this off before the end!! Come back in a couple weeks ❤️‍🔥

Joseph It’s Me — A-side, out June 5 via Team Love Records +++ In addition to being me, Joseph was a patient I loved: a mystical man who drew strength from the trees outside his hospital window. Every time he spoke, it felt like a transmission from another dimension. I watched him in untold pain as he approached death, but the only time I ever saw him cry was after I told him he made sense. “No one has ever said that to me before,” he said. I understood his tears- the loneliness, and comfort, of accessing a reality beyond words or concept. I accompanied Joseph out of his body while I was landing home in mine. This song lives in that crossing. 🌳♾️ +++ #newmusic

Another nice review of I Never Thought You Couldn't Not, this time from @snackmag_ . Thanks to everyone who caught my sets opening for @brokenchanter in Inverness, Aberdeen and Dundee this past week. I had a great time road-testing some of the new songs. Make sure you check out Broken Chanter's new record and catch them live, it was a real pleasure opening for them. 📸 by @jenrosephotos

All Your Waves from @maudtheartist and @moykamusic has been out for a week. Have you listened? What do you think? Drop a comment! 🌊🌊🌊 “Moyka is one of the most hardworking, talented and supportive artist friends I have, and I’m really happy we finally got to collaborate on this song” - Maud “For me, ‘All Your Waves’ is about how overwhelming a new beginning can feel after the end of a relationship. It can feel like being pulled into open water, while trying to find something new to hold onto… I remember fighting my way through snowstorms in Oslo, writing in sessions every day, going to the movies alone, and just creating this vacuum separate from my ordinary life in Bergen. I was searching for a new direction after my previous album. I knew that I wanted to take a leap into working with people that inspire me a lot, and I felt so lucky writing with Maud that winter. It’s so cool to be a part of her magical universe officially.” - Moyka 🌊🌊🌊 Written and produced by Maud and Moyka Photos by @gatelykta and @magnusytreland Single artwork by @signedige

songs with james has been out for a week - have you listened to the gorgeous new EP from @pippablundellmusic ? 🍃🍃🍃 “These songs as you hear them are exactly what they were when we recorded them; one afternoon in a studio near Lochwinnoch [a nature reserve in Ayrshire]. They are tender songs that don’t require any more instrumentation than the two guitars they were performed with. They are simple tender notions and tell stories like confided secrets…of love affairs, feminine struggle, Scottish witchcraft and confused melancholy.” 🍃🍃🍃 Played and performed by Pippa and @jamesmackay___ Photo by @genevievexoxox EP artwork by @gracerichardsun

Have you listened to “So Far” yet? The new single from @zuevawav is an alt pop banger 🌐🌐🌐 “The song has an acceptance that you’ve been taken for granted and that the relationship has reached its end. But as it progresses, there’s a shift into a space of longing and yearning. The instrumentation grows more intense and chaotic, building towards something that makes letting go feel like a punch to the gut. It’s a delayed emotional response to the unfairness and pain of it all. As a contrast the melody carries a light, almost playful tone, suggesting a kind of nonchalance that becomes deeply ironic by the end.” 🌐🌐🌐 Written and produced by Zueva with regular collaborator @snorre.elias Artwork by Zueva Photo by @tarjeiam

New EP is out today! It has been an absolute pleasure to work with @wallisbirdofficial and we are super happy to share these tunes with you! And here are some more insights about the music and the collaboration from @luisevolkmann : Their Quotes and How They Twist Them is a song that asks how we can actually come together in a time marked by so much social tension—and, above all, what role language plays in that. Because language is so often packed with quotes and hidden references we sometimes repeat without even noticing. In the song it’s about taking those quotes back, reshaping them, and finding our own voice through music—a place where community can grow. In a way, the piece also mirrors how Wallis, the band, and I got to know each other, how we found common ground and made this really powerful song from it. It’s very close to my heart. It’s subtle, but it still speaks to our political climate. It moves you—and that’s the beautiful mix music can hold. Chorale, my quiet Pal doesn’t have any lyrics, but it’s full of stories and feelings. The way it moves from one emotion to the next feels so intense to me, and it became the perfect contrast to the other song, which is so text-heavy. Working on it in the studio felt magical. We had a conductor with us who helped shape the ensemble into this chamber-music constellation. And Wallis did an incredible final take—she absolutely set the room on fire. With this piece, what really matters to me is letting the voice of each of the 14 ensemble members be heard—their political voice, woven into a collective sound. When you can get an ensemble to breathe together like that, even without a fixed drum groove, it’s unbelievably powerful. Even without words. Even for someone who can’t speak right now. @mwano_studio Artwork @excessisok Camera Big Thanks to @nicaartistdevelopment for making it possible to record last December and the funding of @musikfonds.de #luisevolkmann #etelarge #wallisbird #largeensemble #ep
