Mahalo for Celebrating Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage with Us!   With gratitude for everyone who joined us in celebrating Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month at our “The Last Queen” screening and All Play One event series. Your presence helped create a powerful space for connection, education, and joyous celebration of our diverse API communities.   In “The Last Queen,” Jeri Nicolas’ short documentary, we witness a personal exploration of her Hawaiian identity and the often-overlooked history of the Hawaiian monarchy. The film, paired with a Q&A facilitated by Taelani Camacho, Empowering Pacific Islander Communities @empoweredpi Program Coordinator, took us on a profound journey into the heart of heritage, ohana (family), and the intersectionality of identity. This powerful screening reminded us that embracing our past is the torch that lights our way forward.   🔑Takeaways • Jeri’s desire to understand her Hawaiian heritage inspired the film. • She emphasized the deep cultural significance of traditional Hawaiian tattoos (tatau). • Honoring ancestors and legacy is crucial for community strength. • Jeri encouraged those with forgotten histories to seek truth and reclaim their stories. • She sees her identities as enriching each other and her work as a way to humanize, educate, and inspire change. ⏭️Steps “The Last Queen” inspires a deeper appreciation of Hawaiian heritage. Jeri hopes it sparks mindful engagement, respect for Native Hawaiian voices, and greater cultural understanding.   Mahalo to Our Partners @oceansidetheatrecompany , and @prebysfound for their partnership in producing this Arts Unite API event series.    With deepest gratitude,   MindFull Movement
