Here’s our latest updates on Pacific Islanders and immigration in the U.S.— a partial travel ban on Tonga, a visa pause on Fiji, visa bonds on multiple Pacific nations, and escalating deportations. These immigration policies create harmful barriers and narratives, ignoring the rights and contributions of NHPIs. We demand clarity and accountability from the government, and urge for solidarity within and beyond the NHPI community. 🤝🏽🌊 In light of the current state of immigration and enforcement, we’re holding a Pasifika Immigration Briefing tomorrow, February 26th at 12pm HST/2pm PST/5pm PST, with some of our community partners. Join us to hear perspectives from community leaders as we discuss these latest immigration policy updates! RSVP at bit.ly/immigrationbriefing or head to the link in our bio. #pacificislander #ice #immigration #civilrights

Did you know that many Pacific Island cultures once followed a lunar calendar? With the start of this new lunar year, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of our highlights from the previous year that we haven’t had the chance to share about! Moments of rest, reflection, and shared joy in community empower us to show up as our best selves in our resistance work. We hope this new lunar year brings a much needed reset for us all. 🧘🏽‍♀️🛏️🌘 #lunarnewyear #pacific #empower #resistance

Migration has always shaped our world, history, and stories. Our ancestors navigated across the Pacific, and as Pasifika diaspora, much of that, in addition to colonial and imperial impact, has shaped our immigration journey. At a time when immigrant families are increasingly under attack, we know the growing fear and concern its caused and the need to be informed and uplift our stories right now. 🌊🛶🎙️ Join us as we hear from community leaders from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, UTOPIA Washington, the Oceania Pacific Studies Association, and Motivating Action Leadership Opportunity, on February 26th at 5:00pm EST, to discuss recent immigration policies and how it impacts our communities. Register at http://bit.ly/immigrationbriefing or head to the link in our bio! #islander #immigrants #pacific #ice

It’s here! 🥳We’re excited to finally share our updated NHPI Policy Blueprint. This wouldn’t be possible without the participation of the countless dedicated NHPI leaders who advocated for their communities in our many listening sessions and policy conversations throughout the years. Policy should be grounded in lived experience, accurate data, and cultural context. This Policy Blueprint reinforces that belief and works toward it by providing a resource to inform policymakers and community leaders engaging policymakers on issues that the NHPI community views as priorities. This launch marks an important step in moving from data to action — and from stories to systems change. As Pacific peoples, we are storytellers by nature. We invite you to uplift the stories of our communities through this Policy Blueprint. Read the full Blueprint at empoweredpi.org/advocacy, or head to the link in our bio. 🌊🎙️📊📚🏛️ #pacificislander #stories #policy #blueprint #power
