At origin, we always find new ways of listening to the people, the land, & the dynamic processes that shape extraordinary coffee. This January, we’re returning to Sidama Bensa, Ethiopia, for our fourth @thecqi Q Processing 2: The Professional (QP2). So come with us for this next adventure! Hosted by our longtime coffee partners @keneandukamo and the Dukamo family of @dayebensacoffee , the course will unfold at their Gatta Farm and Coffee School, 2,000 masl in the bright Ethiopian highlands. Led by Q Instructor @castletonbryce and Archers Head of Education @_daveperalta , this six-day learning journey blends collaboration, immersion, and application — showing us how nurturing farm-level conditions leads to truly exceptional green coffee quality. All participants who pass the final exams will receive their Q Processing 2 Professional Certificate, a mark of skill and growth! Sign up at , and let’s go write new stories, discover new flavors, and grow new friendships where coffee begins!

Another fantastic set of trainings with @technoserve Ethiopia and @usdagov . This year we decided to build on the concepts of last year’s training on the economics of a Wet Mill as well as add an additional postharvest processing training all about Fermentation. Both were a huge success and the feedback was really positive. A huge thanks to the folks at TechnoServe for their support throughout the training and their trust in both @timheinzesea and me to continue building and delivering these trainings that their participants and clients ask for.

☕️🔬 Discover the science behind coffee drying. Proper drying requires a slower and more gradual release of water from the seed. This is because not all water within the seed is bound the same. Removing this water is important for many reasons, but among the most important, is the longevity of the seed in storage. #postharvest #qualitycontrol #specialtycoffee #coffeescience
