I’m thrilled to share the first workshop on my land through the Experimental Photo Kitchen! 🎉
Join me on Sunday May 17 in Nashville to do some exploring in the woods and learn the lumen printing process with Indiana plant life. We will make as many lumens as time allows. I’ll share a presentation of contemporary lumen artists, and demonstrate digital documentation of lumen prints, as well as how to make them permanent with fixer.
While the gang darkroom is still being built, this workshop will take place at my outdoor sink and in the basement kitchen (after which the facility is named). All materials are included, just bring your hiking boots! Details are in my bio link for how to register. Discount for university students!

Between the holidays, travel, and some exciting new changes around the corner for me, I forgot to share sooner that I will be back in Barcelona in July to lead the Horizontal Portfolio Reviews at @experimentalphotofestival . This is a great opportunity for experimental photo artists to exchange ideas about how to discuss and present the concepts behind their work, while also getting their work in front of curators from around the world. So excited to return to this awesome community to see old friends and make new ones. Looking forward to working with the other curators as well!

Cutleaf Toothwort was one of our first visitors in March. This is my third spring in southern Indiana, and one I am trying to pay very close attention to. The blooms have been keeping me busy.

Hey there Hoosiers! Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day is this Sunday, and you can be a part of it in Columbus! Hosted by @artsincolumbus , we will have a pop-up darkroom in the Arts Alley Parklet on 6th Street. You and a group of up to 4 can sign up for a one-hour slot for a pinhole camera that will allow you to make 1-2 photographs. This is a great way to learn what analog photography is about, and meet other people interested in photography at our public hangout from 4-5pm. The cost is $20 and spots are open from 12-4pm. This spring has been such an inspiration. Every day holds potential to make something new. Building up new work for a solo show this August that will address the struggle to stay present and engaged while my country is on fire. It starts with noticing the tiniest of wildflowers growing outside my front door, and fighting off the guilt in enjoying it.

My online class through @penumbrafoundation begins in less than 3 weeks! Chemigrams: Composition and Concept will start from scratch in terms of technique, but also address how to control composition and convey ideas through this abstract process. It is best suited for those with some chemical darkroom experience, but beginners who want to put in a little extra time are also welcome. About the Workshop:
Step into the world of analog photography with this hands-on workshop — an official World Wide Pinhole Photography Day event! Capture a striking image using a simple wooden box and basic principles of photography. After a brief introduction to pinhole photography techniques and tips, you'll head out to explore the streets of Columbus, camera in hand. Once you've captured your shot, we'll develop your photograph on the spot in a portable darkroom — turning your moment into a tangible work of art.
Feel free to bring a friend or photo assistant, but please note that only one photo will be created per camera and timeslot.

Whether you joined the workshop or not, you're invited! Bring your cameras (digital or analog) or just come to connect, share ideas, and get inspired. Enjoy drinks, light bites, and great conversation.

Save the date! I’ll be giving a talk about the evolution of my work at @auroraphotocenter as part of their Local Lens Speakers Series. “You Are Not a Photographer: Light-Sensitivity, Objects, and Tea” will take place at 7pm on June 16 in Indianapolis. I’ll be discussing how my digital and installation works of the 2000s led me out of photography in pursuit of creating objects, and how the evolution of the darkroom eventually lured me back in to satisfy this goal.
