The Muppet Christmas Carol inspired Kermit, official reveal with a LEGO built frame.
BrickCon award winner. The movie has always been one of my favorite Christmas movies, and saw it in the theaters 32 years ago when it came out. And it’s the Muppets 70th anniversary this year!
I started this mosaic last year and finally built out the frame this year. All made out of LEGO bricks.
The mosaic still pops out of the frame easily to stand on its own.
The mosaic has tons of fun parts usage, especially in his eyes, the lamp (including the flame using the Van Gogh’s Starry Night set printed dish), flower pieces for stars, and the scarf using medieval knight feather pieces for added fuzziness.
Those who know me know I love Jim Henson and his work, including the Muppets, and this movie by his son Brian Henson honored his legacy exceptionally.

Treebeard on the March. Official reveal, trophy winner at BrickCon.
Treebeard with Merry and Pippin on his shoulders, from Lord of the Rings. I’ve always loved the Ents, and when @joedoesmostlylego called for participants in a LoTR collab, that is what I gravitated to.
He’s designed to be very organic and flowing, with lots of organic shapes and vines and variations in color to add to the tree feel.
He stands at around 16 inches tall on a 18x18 stud base in total. To help stabilize him so he could have a more dynamic walking stance, I ended up mounting his feet to the base.
He ended up bigger and heavier than I anticipated. I had went with the larger ball joints for his knee, hip and shoulder joints for more dynamic posing. Still sturdy when upright but touchy if he’s tipped too much forward or backward. His elbows are brick built double hinges.
I enjoyed capturing details in his head including his weary brows, large nose, and even seeing his lips through his beard.
The beard has a subtle roundness to it using rockers to add a slight angle to the center portion of his beard as it goes outward, so it didn’t end up perfectly flat. Also created compound angles for the trunk protrusions going up from his back behind his head to feel more dynamic and organic.
Handlebars are used to position the thumb and fingers of his hands, giving a slight spread to his fingers, and a sharp one for his thumb. And there’s some parts usage surprises in the landscape at his feet.
There is also a brown frog used for extra organic detail if you can find it!

Some back story on my final stack for #DisneyHabitats24 hosted by @brickfambuilds for @habitatchallenge
Toy Story has been a habitat stack idea that has been rambling around in my head for a while, waiting for the right time and to figure out the right configuration. I finally went for it this challenge. I thought it would involve the bed, but it just didn’t make sense with the geometry of the habitat stack. I also thought about doing a kids desk instead that would overlap habitats.
I went with the side table with drawers as the best fit though, and thought the drawers would bring interest to the build. I didn’t realize I was going to do the top drawer partially open at first, but thought it was more interesting and it worked to help formulate the story by having a place for Woody helping the gang up. Then everything evolved from there.
The lamp seemed like the perfect opportunity for some interesting parts usage. The Belville flower pot was an odd part with a perfect bulbous shape for the lamp base. Tried a few things for the shade but the Ninjago Spinjitzu piece upside down seemed perfectly shaped.
Very happy with how it turned out in the end. Clean in design with targeted detail thanks to all the SNOT and sideways building. Colorful and capturing the visual feel I get from the movie while echoing story points of them getting up to the window.
I love the effect for the sideways built floors and tabletop for these habitats. Although the Rex habitat I had to redo the floor as I realized the grain wasn’t going the same direction as the Woody one on my first attempt…
The newer 1x1x2/3 high SNOT brick with the rounded back was so helpful and I’m so glad they are coming out with these kinds of finer detail SNOT pieces. I think the Speed Champion theme has been a real boon for small detail parts for those who like minifigure scale.
Plan to bring this to some shows. It’s smaller but the clean design and color will hopefully help it stand out.

Adding to my @friendshiptember living dragon airship fleet! A new smaller fantastical, magical dragon airship ready for adventure with its elfin captain, designed to fit the world I started with my larger dragon airship from 2023.
Inspired by the azures and purples of this dragon head (from a Fantastic Beasts LEGO set), and leveraging the curvature of the large leaf bunches introduced last year for a fuller organic shape on a smaller head and ship.
This ship is designed to be nimbler than the other larger ship, for 1 or 2 adventurers. With storage space, comfy captains chair, and shade canopy for longer travels. Or for swooping around their cities. The canopy framing is designed to look natural, almost as if grown into place
Continuing the theme of the trans magenta magical power source from before, a crystal brings this smaller ship to life. It’s nestled in a brown sunflower piece, like a nest.
Leaves and butterflies form the living dragon portions of the ship. Capes are secured to create the canopy.

When given the quotes to build a trophy for, I had to go with this one! Always wanted to do something with this scene in LEGO.
I ended up building a figure instead of using a minifigure to add a little more height and because I didn’t have a good minifig torso for his boar emblem on his chest.
So I went with building one, using the feather as the central starting point to reference the red boar on his chest. I started with a little bigger version but felt this smaller version worked better with the helmet and had cleaner shaping at this scale.
Included a lot of diversity in parts for the foliage, including green banana peel, antlers, green flowers, Wolverine claws.
