It’s that special time of year. Jazz Fest! I’m honored to have been invited to play at the official festival this year and have a bunch of fun night time shows happening.
I’ve been trying to merge blues with funk ever since I first attempted to write music as a teenager. I think I got pretty close on this one.
“Coming Home To See My Bae” is out today. The last single off the new album, I wrote this at the end of a long tour headed home to reunite with my love. 🚐 ✈️ ♥️

When I started making the music that would launch Gitkin in 2018 I was on funk blues tear for years. My playing was defined and actualized. I had reached everything I set out to achieve on the guitar, a sound I dreamt up as a teenager. But something had happened… I was bored. As an experiment I started writing and recording, actively trying to sound nothing like myself. As it turned out, that alter ego exploration unlocked something personal and intriguing that is still unfolding 9 years later.

My journey releasing music as Gitkin has from the jump been an exploration of sounds and feelings that spark my curiosity in a given moment. I draw from genres and influences from around the world, but I always try to keep a steady thread of an essence and spirit running through the music. My best studio days happen when I’m no longer thinking, I’m just on a little adventure, surfing a musical current.
It’s in that spirit that I’m thrilled to announce the release of my fifth full-length album, “Where The South Winds Wail” dropping May 22nd on Wonderwheel Recordings. We’re kicking things off with the single “Night Tripper” and its B-side “Alter Ego.”
I hope this music may find its way into the soundscape of your life, even if just for a few moments.

This track was sitting on my hard drive for years 💾… It wasn’t particularly special, but it had a little something ✨ so I sent it to my good friend Assaf. What he sent back literally put me on a happy wave 🌊😊 and sparked the inspiration for the lyric and final touches 🎶🎛️
