🎤 Behind the Verse: J. Ivy on Brian Jackson’s “It’s Your World” | BTS Performance Video
Step inside the moment where music, message, and mastery converge.
In this exclusive behind-the-scenes video, witness multi-Grammy Award-winning poet J. Ivy deliver a soul-stirring performance of his verse on “It’s Your World” — the bold new single from Brian Jackson, co-written with the legendary Gil Scott-Heron, and reimagined by the iconic production duo Masters At Work.
J. Ivy’s verse moves like mantra, merging powerful affirmations and lyrical depth over an epic sonic backdrop. His presence on this track is more than performance — it’s a call to awaken, to own our narrative, to remember: we are the light.
Produced by Louie Vega and Kenny Dope (@masters_at_work_official ), this 11-minute epic features a dream team of musicians — from Raheem DeVaughn’s soaring vocals to, the Apple Hill String Quartet, and more — anchored by Jackson’s timeless touch on the Fender Rhodes.
As Brian Jackson shares:
“This song was Brian reassuring Brian… and sharing it with other Brians — of any shape or form — who might have needed it too.”
✨ If you’ve ever needed a reminder that this world is yours to shape — this is it.

American keyboardist and songwriter Brian Jackson, long entwined with Gil Scott-Heron's radical soul canon, revisits that repertoire with a sprawling cast of collaborators. The project carries the air of a conversation across decades. 'The Bottle', here voiced by Omar, keeps its rolling streetwise pulse while softening into a warmer groove. Black Thought steps into 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' with a sharp modern cadence that cuts through the arrangement. Later, 'Winter in America' unfolds slowly with Rich Medina, its melancholy melody hanging in the air like a long memory returning.

As.
