Stepping into Spring with @brooksrunningca 🌷👟 #LetsRunThere Some spontaneous spec work I did while at the tulip fields last week because these colours were too pretty!! 😍 Model: @kaileighmapson (Yes I did make her lay in the dirt, steal her shoes, and make her sit on a bench in her socks while I shot some of these 😂 gotta love sisters!) “I’m not photogenic.” “I don’t know what to do with my hands.” “I’m so awkward.” 😅 I hear this every. single. shoot. But honestly? Look at me. I’m the one doing absolute gymnastics to get the shot. 😂 If you get nervous in front of the camera, I want you to know that 99% of people feel the exact same way. It’s incredibly vulnerable to have your photo taken, but the secret to getting genuine, great photos isn’t practicing poses in the mirror before you arrive. Yes, its good to know your favourite angles of yourself, but here’s how we can beat the camera shyness together: We keep moving — Freezing creates stiffness! I’ll have you walk, sway, or interact with your surroundings to create natural movement. We ditch the “cheese” — Forced smiles always look forced. I’ll give you silly prompts, hype you up, make you laugh, and give you things to do so we capture genuine reactions. I also find saying “yoga” is waaaaayyyy better than “cheese” because it brings the smile up to your eyes! I do the heavy lifting — You just focus on breathing, being yourself, and having FUN. I’ll focus rolling around in the dirt to get the absolute best angle. 🙌🏻😂📸

HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER // BTS #brimapsvisuals This semester our artists in residence @langaraphoto were the amazing creative duo Tanya and Trevor @post_photography @the_automatic_message They have created such an incredible installation called “How to Make a Monster” combining video, stills and sound into an immersive art experience bringing to life our inner voices, critics, and monsters. It was such an incredible opportunity to be able to help out on this set and see this project as it came to life. These are some BTS photos I took throughout our 3 days of filming!
