We got the community together, drilled, learned, shared, jammed, discussed, laughed, reconnected.
We brought together over 25 young active Bgirls, Bboys (established & upcoming) and trainers/coaches.
One of the key intentions was to bring practitioners in one space, facilitate in-person exchanges and discussions, appreciate & enjoy the dance!

Inside the Bgirls workshops, part of our 2024 workshops week.
We had 10+ young, active and emerging female breakers from Kampala and surrounding communities attend the bgirls workshop.
Because the current number of active bgirls is still low, this session intended to bring active bgirls face to face and facilitate sharing.
We covered areas like proper warm up & stretching, floor-work foundations, concepts, various effective exercises & practices and finished off with a discussion.

Inside the digital skills training workshops, part of our 2024 workshops week.
We gathered 20+ active and competing bgirls and bboys from kampala and surrounding areas on Monday 16th/12. We dived into understanding your mobile gadget, useful apps for breakers and using them effectively to grow & develop a breaking career.
It’s always joy and pleasure for us to see our community together; exploring, learning, growing and bettering themselves.

Recently I was in Kigali city, Rwanda 🇷🇼 for 2024 Kigali Breaking Cypher event. It was a meaningful experience giving and receiving from breakers & the dance community at large from Rwanda, DR Congo, Cameroon, Japan and Uganda.
As the only regional based judge with multiple international experience and certification, I was invited to judge the main breaking battle category; part of that responsibility was to review & discuss the judging criteria with fellow judges + briefing dancers on how they were being judged!
I also selected 3 top performing breakers (from Gisenyi in Rwanda, Goma & Bukavu in DRC 🇨🇩) whom we’re inviting to @breakfastjam1 2024 this November in Uganda 🇺🇬!
This event added to strengthening people-people connections and integration of young dancers from Rwanda, DRC and Uganda.
The amount of skill, talent, potential and hunger within participants to improve and do more for the local scene is something remarkable.
As a Bboy, artist educator, creative producer & entrepreneur, with interest and focus of doing good on our African continent through hiphop, this experience has added to my arsenal of tools, connections/networks and practical ideas in meaningful practical ways of Hiphop programming that crosses borders and makes impact.
