The incomparable @seilerdave needed a little help dropping off art for a coming show today. The least we could do on a snowy day for a man who lives his values and only rides an e-bike. Great to see @collinparson @arvadacenter today. And see a peek at the upcoming and current shows. Don’t miss the jeffco high school student exhibition on now and @j_gipe Half-Life of Memory show both closing soon. Always a treat to be at the best arts center in Colorado steeped in community history and value. Great to meet @lleaflet Lisa Leafgreen and talk education in art and community as well Go see the exhibitions when you can.

What a beautiful memorial to Michael Smith! So many wonderful, colorful, and oh so Mike Smith stories told. An incredible life lived. And so many people who’s lives were impacted, made better and forever changed because they knew Mike. The Art community won’t be the same without him. We lost a champion for local arts and artists. Peace to you Michael. For those in the art community who haven’t heard. There is an estate sale mostly consisting of Michael’s extensive art collection estate sale | 4 day sale May 20th-23rd 2026. Address released on Tuesday the 19th at We love you Mike!

The opening last night of Sculpting Sound Such wonderful sculpture expression in music form. Very excited for this great idea to come to life and how new and innovative it was. The show features multiple new sonic artworks by local visual and installation artists. These sonic artworks will then become an ‘orchestra’ for a series of new musical commissions to be performed by the musicians in The Playground Ensemble. the artworks and composers’ scores will be on public display from late April through the month of May. Visitors will be allowed to interact and experiment with the artwork themselves. The show culminates with two concerts premiering the commissioned music on May 30, and a third improvised music concert on May 31. Get your tickets to support this great exhibition and hear its culmination in sound.

What a great Third Thursday artist coffee we had. Met new friends and many great returning faces. Thank you @dencentralmkt for the space and goods. Thanks @luceros_luz for the photos. Subjects were plenty, but mostly revolved around the new A -Corporation! For the first time ever, a law will create a business entity designed specifically for artists and creative people. A new form where artistic control, IP protection, collective ownership, and a creative mission are part of the default structure. On March 4, the Colorado Artist Company Act, cosponsored by Senators Bridges (D) and Catlin (R) and Representatives Martinez (D) and Taggart (R), was filed in the Colorado State Capital building. The Artist Corporation, or A-Corp, is finally here. The other main topic was our BRDG Survey still open on our website. Please take it and send to as many metro Denver artists as you can for info to help us advocate for artists. Both subjects have links is our bio above. Next month Third Thursday coffee meetup is at Town Hall Collaborative, Thursday, May 21 · 10–11 AM,

Michael Smith Memorial With great sadness of the passing of one of Denvers best and passionate art supporters and local art collectors, we share Michael Smith’s memorial information. So many have asked, and we are glad to share a time and a place for all to honor his memory. Date: May 03, 2026 Time: 2:00pm-4:00pm Location: Anderson Academic Commons Rm 290 on the University of Denver Campus RSVP requested. On Mike Facebook /michael.smith.225654 Please send any pictures you have to [email protected] for a slideshow during Michael was an incredible and present supporter of so many art institutions, individuals and all manner of small and large art gallery and collective. A collector for over 40 years, Mike loved to support artists on the rise, and local artist more than any. 100s of local artists can say Mike was a collector of their work. His involvement with the arts didn’t stop there, Mike gladly donated his time to countless arts organizations, museums and galleries… gallery sitting, chairing committees, legal advising, fundraising and more. He was incredibly generous to us at @brdgproject for helping us navigate the legal landscape of leasing our space, watching the gallery, in supporting our charity events, both in donation by purchasing art, but also simply helping setup, wrap art, or clean after. He was a mentor to us and many and most importantly a good friend. Mike grew up in Craig Colorado, was an accomplished and incredibly respected lawyer of University of Denver and Harvard education, liaison for the fraternal organizations to CU, a devoted person of faith, and so much more. He will be sorely missed by the art community and those that had the pleasure of being in the presence of his sharp wit and bold character. Rest in peace! Our hearts weep, we love you Michael.

We know our people! Artists of Denver! 2026 BRDG Artist to Artist community survey- Take the Short 7 minute survey so we can advocate for artists needs, space, and opportunities to help, with organizations and others in the community. Go to our website brdgproject.org or the link above in our bio. Take the survey then reach out and send it to 10 artists friends in the Denver community. Let’s advance real support for the Arts in Denver. BRDG has spent the past year listening, learning, and researching, after the loss of our space last March. We’ve been surveying the artist landscape— the challenges and opportunities emerging in Denver—some visible, many less so. More than ever, we’ve seen rapid change and a potential growing disconnect between larger established art institutions and the everyday working artists who make our community vibrant. We are interested in finding out what your reality is as an artist working in Denver— make your voice heard. Your perspective will help guide the next evolution of BRDG Project, and help us advocate for Initiatives that could help. Thank you to @thecreativeangleco Amy Norton for this survey help. And thank you as artists for the art you bring to Denver. #brdgproject #artisttoartistsurvey #denverartist
