Working on Moana 2 was the privilege of a lifetime. I dream pretty big, but I never could have ever imagined getting to write for something as epic and as amazing as this. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, but sharing the wa’a with so many beautiful people made the entire journey worthwhile. I’m so grateful to have been a part of this and I’m even more grateful that the world finally gets to enjoy this story. Excited to announce a project on Humble Sandwich Prods’ slate is “Dragonfruit” by @makiialucier , a co-pro with @melissasua , starring @elianasua_ , and adapted by @brchun (slide through if you missed his @deadline announcement yesterday). Eli surprised us all and dropped the good news on the PREDATOR: BADLANDS red carpet last night! But honestly, I’m just excited that @dfatuesi and @benjaminpola caught it! I’m so happy to have a project with so much Pasifika greatness attached, and continually thankful to @peakpasifika for putting us all together.

Congrats to @brchun who is set to writer THE FIRST & LAST, a live-action musical feature set against the backdrop of the organized coup d’état led by Sanford B. Dole to overthrow the Kingdom of Hawai’i in 1893. The historical musical drama follows Queen Lili’uokalani as she fights to protect her homeland, haunted by ill-fated premonitions spoken to her from her late brother’s spirit, King Kalākaua. Bryson Chun was an alum of the 2021 CAPE New Writers Fellowship. Previous works include Disney Animation’s MOANA 2. He’s also written on the show DOOGIE KAMEALOHA, M.D.

GET IT WRITTEN!!!” So grateful to @icanintl for having Co-Creator and Co-Writer of Chief of War, Thomas Pa’a Sibbett @paakai97 for sharing his experience, strength and hope on a panel today with Moana 2 writer Bryson Chun @brchun and the rest of the ICAN graduates and audiences at a panel today at @uhwestoahu . Pa’a has achieved the impossible by bringing the first Native Hawaiian story told on a global scale alongside his partner, Co-writer, Co-creator, Director and Star Jason Momoa @prideofgypsies . The show is absolutely amazing and marks a watershed moment for the Hawaiian people and its stories. The show premiers only on @appletv on August 1st! Tune in and watch history in the making!
