Gordon, 91 year old man of the people, Loved and respected by young and old, Bingo Maestro and Chairman of the Trowbridge Senior Citizens Club.
Gordon moved to Hackney in 1959 after serving 5 years in the Navy.
He says it’s changed for the better - “it used to be a bit of a dump, and quite dangerous at times, I prefer it now”
He certainly doesn’t look his age… listen to his monologue on the last page…
Swifty, he of piercing oceanic eyes, gold footwear, of gentle manner and a feather in his hat.
I see Swifty every Tuesday at the community dinners…prefers ice-cream rather than custard with his desert and tends to sleep the dinner off afterwards either out on the lawn or hidden behind reception if it’s raining.
He’s just completed writing a book, ‘Messages From A Wilderness’…we’re planing the accompanying film adaptation...possibly.
me and Mavis would buy him a couple of Oreo bars as we walked towards Victoria Park each afternoon…

We're exhibiting 86 portraits on the walls of @gascoynecommunitycentre this Sunday 9th as part of @well_st_common festival to celebrate the wonderful community of our Tuesday Lunch Club.
