It’s now been a month since the launch of @createwithimpulse after a year of development. Impulse is a creative tool for choreographers that supports the pre-production process and makes motion capture radically more accessible for the performing arts. It’s a tool that I needed—and I have learned through this process that it is one so many other choreographers have been looking for as well. Co-founding this company and building with @whittsellers with over the last year has been a joy. Starting a business is hard and I’ve learned building a product has some key differences from making a performance. I continually find myself learning every single day, but I stay committed, knowing that this company really feels like a manifestation of where my career has been heading for the last ten years. It’s a way to translate between arts and technology and empower artists to lead with innovative tools. Impulse is available now, and I’d love to get it in the hands of as many people as possible. 2025 was for new projects and new adventures including…an unforgettable opportunity with @lincolncenter for the Collider Fellowship, launching @theatreroyale , creating a site specific immersive dance event for Lincoln Center Plaza, laying the ground work for a new company (more on that very soon), leading two AI for Artists workshops, investigating a new project at the intersection of civic imagination and XR with @worldsinplay and expanding the @mtfmusicals XR Garage for a successful second year. 🌉 Welcoming Brandon Powers to Worlds in Play 2025 to playtest THE BRIDGE: PLAYTESTING A DEMOCRACY RITUAL! 👓 The Bridge is a communal ritual that blends augmented reality, theatrical structure, and collaborative gameplay to guide participants from personal reflection to collective decision-making in order to create civic dialogue.  Using AR glasses, The Bridge combines the structure of a Socratic circle with the strategy of a board game. Participants respond to provocative prompts aloud, generating symbolic virtual objects anchored to physical blocks. How can performing artists best collaborate with emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence? We explored this question at our recent Create-athon led by ground-breaking artist and Collider Fellow, Brandon Powers (@bpow33 )! This workshop provided an opportunity for the teens in attendance to experiment with cutting-edge AI tools and explore how technology can interact with dance, theatre, and live performance.

After over a year of planning, I’m so pumped to announce @mtfmusicals MTFxR Garage: a musical theatre + immersive tech hackathon and summit. Over the course of six days, three teams of professional artists, creative technologists, and students will create new prototypes for XR musical experiences. We are excited to be generously hosted by @itp_nyu / @ima_nyu at the amazing Media Commons at 370 Jay. On the last day, June 26th, we’ll be hosting a Summit open to the public where you can experience the prototypes and participate in grounded conversations and sessions with industry leaders across performance and tech. Tickets on sale now! This event is all about showcasing the importance of deep cross sectoral collaboration to build the future we want to be in.
