On November 14, I was on the main stage at LegacyCon, the 2025
@bpn.summit , speaking on “The Power of Presence: Building Connections & Community.” 🫶🏾
I had prepared for days, I was excited, grateful, buzzing with energy. My co-panelists brought fire, the audience was locked in, and everything felt perfectly aligned. Then, minutes after I stepped off stage, my phone rang. It was the call telling me Derek had passed. 💔 In that moment, everything abruptly stopped. I remember walking away from a group who had just congratulated me and feeling my entire world freeze. I still have a hard time remembering the rest of that day.
So if you were one of the beautiful souls who tried to speak with me afterward and I disappeared, please send me a DM or email, I still would love to chat and connect with you.
@Kenasha , thank you for trusting me with that stage and that moment. To my incredible co-panelists, you were brilliant and I’m honored to have shared the mic with you. To everyone who showed up, asked questions, and poured love, I felt it, even when I couldn’t fully receive it that day. 🙏🏾
I will probably dread this date every year. But I’m still thankful. Thankful to God for these opportunities, thankful for the village that keeps supporting me.
Thank you, LegacyCon.
Thank you, Black Professionals Network.
