Thank you to the @emergeamericas team for the invitation not just to speak, but to curate a conversation with founders building in some of todayâs most important spaces đ
Weâre talking AI and other high-trust industries where credibility, security, and relationships matter as much as code.
These are the kinds of rooms where regions decide what their future economy will look like. And Iâm excited to help spotlight founders who are shaping whatâs next.
If youâre planning to attend, use this code to tap in: 26PRTCOMM
Whatâs especially exciting is seeing how this moment connects to the City of North Miamiâs economic development strategy. Cities that what to win in tech over the next 5â10 years are doing three things at once:
⢠preparing residents to be tech-enabled
⢠attracting tech professionals
⢠creating space for founders to build locally
When those three move together, you donât just attract jobsâyou grow multiple industries.
Thatâs how ecosystems are built. And thatâs how opportunity scales for everyone. đ
Follow @bpn.miami for updates as full lineup of events and spotlights will be shared across tech month. There will be something for everyone to tap in.
And more to be announced đ

I try to explain what I do and Iâm basically seen as Tommy from Martin đ
To me, I just have had the same jobs but in different fonts.
Whether itâs running an incubator for minority businesses (MBDA), helping female founders improve their pitch and positioning in the tech ecosystem (FIU-Venture Miami) or identify the market value position and opportunities within the universityâs ecosystem (FMU-CFE) powered by the ecosystem work I do at Black Professionals Network. They all share the same elements.
Grant funded with set timelines? Yes AND they are all rooted in economic development work. So a lot of trial and error and adopting/abandoning different theories of change.
I basically told these ladies during a keynote Iâm a matchmaker of sorts and yes the law, government, and journalism background helps đ¤ but itâs lifelong learning and re-skilling.
And I picked up a lot of this by admiring women who do just a bit of everything too.
So to close out Womenâs History Month, Iâm explaining what an ecosystem builder is (my parents are slowly getting it lol) and highlighting these women who inspire me to be a better one and be a little bit of everything and more.
Oh and save the date for the 2026 Summit âĽď¸

The Womenâs Fund Power of the Purse Luncheon
Thank you @womensfundmiami for all of your hard work in highlighting the key issues impacting women in Miami-Dade County such as economic mobility, leadership, health and well being and freedom from violence. Thank you Myra and @arathiramappa for the invite and all the work that you do!
It was a beautiful room full of impactful ladies (and men) working to build a more gender inclusive society across Miami-Dade.
Bonus: having the honor to meet California Governor Newsomâs wife and the First Partner, Jennifer Newsom. Thank you for sharing with me your work on economic development, more to come đ¤

Itâs that time again - Art + Soul!
Good music, open bar, folks who actually get on the dance floor with their cocktail or maxi length dresses.
Plus, this year with Hennessy sponsoring, I wager an increase of dance floor attendance đ
Wether youâre going to support PAMMâs acquisition of black art, so our public museum reflects a wide array of artwork too or youâre looking to building connections with people who value the same things as you: community and legacy â this is where you want to be.
Itâs an intentional gathering of South Floridaâs best, inviting top leaders from all over. Think art world of course but government, media, wine and spirits, finance and more too.
If interested in going, use my code: BPN2026 to save on tickets!
đ Saturday, Feb 7

A reminder to myself â maybe this helps you too.
Perfectionism isnât excellence.
Itâs control disguised as discipline.
And most control is an illusion because doing everything ârightâ wonât stop rejection, opinions, or misinterpretation.
What you can control is how experiences shape you to be better.
Excellence is built through learning, repair, and mistakes â not outcome management.
So instead of trying to control results, especially when things can get tough, I pause and ask God: what am I meant to extract from this?
To my fellow legacy builders, ask yourself where has perfectionism slowed your growth and progress lately?
Itâs a real oneâs birthday!
As my Papi is getting older, Iâve been thinking through some of the lessons that have left a mark on me so far and felt called to share. Learning not to take these moments for granted.
Itâs interesting, though, how itâs only in hindsight that I can see them as lessons and not the annoying lectures they used to feel like đ â I just didnât like the tone!!
I put buddy through it, most within good reason. Poor guy, I was a big âwhyâ kid and he gladly gave the answers. Thereâs some stuff I wish I listened to earlier tho.
All in all, Iâm reminded that the lessons and wisdom people leave IN us are part of legacy building too.
We are deeply shaped by the way people live and love. No oneâs perfect, but Iâm glad I got to witness someone willing to grow. As a Haitian?!?! Wild.
(And yes, I read this to him. I think I caught a tear lol)
