The Springfield Reincarnation HexLab Station - 🪴🍂🪨🪵multimedia installation 📽📺💡 Springfield Farm Reincarnation HexLab Station is many things a lab, a reliquary, an ark, a love song, a navigational system, a hex, a hive and more.
This space I’ve constructed is made from pieces of that place in Virginia, it is a landscape, a self portrait, a reflection of myself in a site and different angles from which one can view it. #installationart #hexagons #plants #thesis #multimedia
🐏🐑🚌 And just like that, the seemingly never-ending sea of pregnant ewes, wiggly lambs, and horny rams of Wyoming has been crossed! I’ve got some new muscles, gnarly hands and I’m not sure when I’ll stop smelling like sheep. I am so damn lucky to have had the opportunity to man a station on the Kerr Shearing crew for the last 3 months. Every person on our team is so fantastically strong, fearless and skilled at their vital part in sustaining American Wool. I have endless respect for these shearers, wool handlers, shepherds and ranchers who continue to maintain our time worn relationship with sheep and the land. I’ve still got a lot to learn, it’ll probably take a lifetime to really get the hang of shearing, but these people taught me I’m capable of doing it if I just keep going.

🐏🌼🏔️🌀What even is time out on the plains?! Another month has gone by, heaps more sheep have been shorn and spring has sprung. I’m doing my best to learn what I can from this ridiculously talented crew I’m lucky enough to shear with (in between getting my ass handed to me by the enormous sheep we shear 🐏🐑🐏) It’s been the most humbling and challenging experience I’ve had since joining the recovery community three years ago, a milestone I was psyched to reach while out on the road ❤️ It fills me with so much gratitude to have the support of family and friends for each of these formidable challenges. It’s never too late to get help if you or someone you love struggles with addiction… it’s also never too late to join a shearing crew 🤪🤠

🐑🐶🌯🖐️Many sheep, puppies, breakfast burritos, hand injuries and truck stop showers later and it’s March! Can’t even believe it 😮💨 This crew sheared 10,000 lambs this past couple weeks, they’re some of the strongest, toughest, most talented people I’ve met and I’m damn grateful to get to learn from them. My goal was to shear 60 sheep in a day by the end of the season and I guess my expectations were a little low because I made it to 63 in week two 🤠. Time for new goals, much excitement to see what March brings 🐑🐑🐑

🐑🚌🤠I still can’t believe we’re doing this, but today Randy and I are heading west for a few months so I can get more shearing experience. It’s going to be some of the hardest physical labor I’ve ever done and I hope I’m ready for the challenge. I’m nervous, beyond excited and filled with gratitude to have a partner who wants to come with me and friends and family who support these wild and crazy goals. I can’t wait to see what happens, hopefully these sheep don’t beat me up too bad 🐑🐑🐑
🪼🪺🐚🫧Soft studies in wool. Thinking a lot about transitions, progressions and hope while I stab through the cold days and prepare for big moves this week 🚌 Hope everyone is staying warm and taking care and looking out for each other.
