I’m excited to share that I’m part of a group exhibition on Governors Island. This small drawing, Explosion of Nature (2011), is 9 × 12 inches and created with acrylic and paint marker on paper.
406A Comfort Road, Governors Island, NY
May 16th, 2025 from 2pm – 5pm
Patel’s artwork explores the subtle, ongoing transformations of the natural world growth, decay, erosion, and renewal. Working across painting, drawing, and sculpture, she is focused on organic forms and shifting structures that echo nature’s rhythms. In response to the climate crisis, her practice centers on awareness and attention, encouraging closer observation of the environments we inhabit. "When the Earth Breathes" 2025 Acrylic and Paint Marker on Canvas 60x60 inch
Earth Day is a reminder that the ground beneath us is not still. It is constantly shifting, breathing, and transforming. My work reflects this quiet movement found in nature: the flow of water carving landscapes, the slow reach of roots beneath the surface, and the unseen rhythms that shape our environment over time. Using water as both material and metaphor, I explore how change is not always visible, but always present.
In thinking about Earth Day, I’m drawn to the idea of care—how we notice, respond to, and exist within these natural systems. The work asks viewers to slow down and consider the subtle movements of the earth, and our place within them. Just as water adapts, erodes, and sustains, we too are part of this continuous cycle. Earth Day becomes not just a moment of awareness, but an invitation to stay connected to the evolving landscapes we inhabit. #abstractartwork #abstraction #earthday #nature
