«Галерея @dissolutiongallery представляет выставку нового художественного фотопроекта Дианы Смыковой.
В проекте художница исследует тему чувства дома через визуальные работы и диалоги. Собирая истории людей из разных стран и культур, Диана создает проект, показывающий, как рождается и формируется чувство дома через рефлексию об идентичности, миграции и травматическом опыте в контексте актуальных событий.
Используя цифровые и нецифровые медиумы — от солнечного цвета и физических отпечатков до коллажа — художница иллюстрирует беспорядочность и фрагментарность памяти, создавая символы и текстуры, которые передают образ дома каждого героя.
Фотографии на выставке будут представлены вместе с документальными текстами, которые раскрывают тему восприятия дома, предоставляя для зрителей возможность погрузиться в личный опыт героев проекта.»

Если вы готовы поделиться мыслями на эту тему — пишите мне. Для этого ничего особенного не нужно, главное, чтобы эта тема была для вас важной и актуальной сейчас. Мне интересно послушать про разные точки зрения, которые связаны с вашим личным опытом, традициями, воспоминаниями, открытиями.
Для примера: у меня уже есть история бедуина, который, храня традиции семьи и детские мечты, живет всю жизнь на белом пляже в одиночестве. Есть герой из Беларуси, который нашел себя в Киеве и вынужден был попрощаться с тем самым «домом» сразу после 24 февраля. Я ищу фактуру и переживания о доме.
Это проект про чувство дома, и он строится вокруг фигуры человека в контексте всего хаоса из войн и потерь. Весной я оказалась в эмиграции, и впервые поняла, что потеряла свою землю под ногами в необъяснимом смысле.
Люди, которых я встречала, были в такой же ситуации: «Я и не здесь, и не там — как будто в лимбе..» — это слова одного из героев. Я много общалась с теми, кто вокруг меня, и из их рефлексии создавала фотографии, которые отсылают к образу дома героя и всех его составляющих — от детских воспоминаний, людей, мелочей и ритуалов.
В нем есть очень обнадёживающие и красивые истории людей из разных культур о том, как дом появляется в совершенно неожиданном месте, и даже после потери и своего места, и себя, получается создать новые опоры в виде любви.
А это я и выставка части проекта «Открытки домой» на фесте современного искусства @myceliumi.ge в Грузии ✨

Hi everyone! It’s my last day of takeover, and I hope you’ve been enjoying it so far 🖤
In this post, I’m sharing a glimpse of my experimental project about the sense of home, inspired by my own experience of migration.
For this project, I collected stories, memories, and visual fragments from people of different cultures and countries, transforming them into poetic analogue images. Using sunlight, physical prints, collage, and other experimental photographic techniques — both digital and analogue — I tried to reflect the fragile and fragmented nature of memory itself.
Each piece became an attempt to translate an intimate feeling of home into textures, symbols, and layered visual forms.
Alongside the visual works, the project also includes personal texts and stories collected during the process, which are available on my website.
This photograph happened without me seeing it.
It was −50°C. I was riding a snow scooter, the air cutting through everything, vision reduced to fragments. I pressed the shutter almost blindly — five frames, and then the camera died.
Later, going through the images, I found this.
It felt less like something I took, and more like something that revealed itself.
I still return to it as one of the most precise images I’ve ever made.
It happened while I was living on the Yamal Peninsula with the Khanty — nomadic people of the tundra, Siberia.
Their lives unfold in motion, across endless frozen landscapes. Movement is not a choice there — it is what keeps you warm, what keeps you alive. Their homes, made of reindeer skin, appear and disappear within an hour. I remember watching this, unable to fully grasp it.

For me, photography is a way to explore the relationship between the visible and the intangible. While my work often begins with real, documentary encounters I find along the way, it tends to shift into something more ambiguous — somewhere between reality and imagination.

That’s the real treasure out of all the material things I’ve ever had :)
My family photographs have been the most unclear and intriguing part of our heritage, as 90% of them were lost or destroyed.
I remember being 5–7 years old, looking at some of these vintage Polaroids in awe — and here I am, traveling the world as a photographer, always keeping those images as something most precious.
And today is the birthday of the coolest and strongest woman in the world, who by happy coincidence is also my grandmother ❤️

which one is your favorite?
For many years, women have been at the heart of my photography and art projects. Collecting folklore and listening to personal histories is an essential part of my process, and through this work I have been honored to meet so many amazing women — from Tibet and the Nile River to Northern Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Again and again, I have seen how often women are the ones who preserve cultures, protect indigenous languages, and carry stories forward, passing them carefully from one generation to the next. Their knowledge moves quietly but powerfully — like water shaping the land over time.
I feel deep gratitude for the women who shared their memories, wisdom, and strength with me. They are resilient, generous, and full of life — spreading care, hope, and light in ways that are both visible and unseen.
