Transcontinental Race No.7: complete! 4,300km (2,670mi) and 36,000m (118,000ft) in just over 20 days, unsupported. Finished yesterday morning but have since had no phone batt/been asleep... What an amazing experience and challenge, both physically and mentally. I was a couple of days slower than originally planned but was still happy with my performance - especially after scratching last year - and it was a challenge just to finish at all. 100 riders had to scratch and many thought it was the hardest TCR yet. Mountainous gravel climbs to headwind-prone terrain in scorching heat to freezing midnight thunderstorms and everything you could imagine inbetween. Travelled through some amazing places, crossing through Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and France. More photos to come!
Thanks to
@thetranscontinental for organising an amazing race and thanks to the new friends I met on the way for all the laughs and moral support. Special mention for
@karaliscat and
@_.seanking who both unfortunately had to scratch but put in inspirational performances and showed true grit 💪 (well, more like🦵 and 🧠!) Also big thanks to
@jimmywak at
@condorcycles for a perfect bike fit - had no issues whatsoever, unbelievable!
Most of all thanks to my amazing wife
@_sarahbee_ for the unwavering support before and during the race ❤️ especially all the time spent training, planning, and generally not shutting up talking about cycling! Also to understanding family and friends as I dedicated huge chunks of time to training and planning at the cost of my social life!
Speaking of which - time for beers with friends! 🍻
