Exciting! We will be intoroducing a new live band at @glivelabhelsinki on the 21st of October with @vv_air . 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗺𝗶/𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗷𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻 is going to be an electro-acoustic musical project with a strong focus on improvisation. Expect ambient textures and drone fields but fear not: there will be grooving as well. We will be playing music mainly from Ville-Veikko’s upcoming solo album (TBA!!). Who knows, maybe we’ll throw in some of my tracks as well. We will be joined on stage by our wonderful and super talented friends @olavilouhi and @ilkkatolonen . The evening will be opened by the fantastic Heli Hartikainen and their saxophone + electronics tour-de-force. It’s gonna be a whirlwind! Just to be clear once again: this will not be a concert focused on 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘓𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳, but if you liked BBL, I’m sure you’re gonna love this. Well, here is an alternate version! 🌿 These shapes are known as Lissajous figures and they represent the differences between the two channels (left, right) of a stereo signal. The figure on the bottom is the sine drone part of the track and the figure on the top is the theme played on a synth guitar. ⚡️We shot these clips from the screen of a vintage Sencore oscilloscope from the early sixties with @teroahonen . For me, these kinds of visuals represent the perfect union of science and art. 🤝 I could watch these for hours! 🌀
“Birch bark letter no. 292 from the Novgorod excavations (unearthed in 1957) is the oldest known document in any Finnic language. It is dated to the beginning of the 13th century. The language used in the document is thought to be an archaic form of the language spoken in Olonets Karelia, a dialect of the Karelian language.” When I came across this article on Wikipedia several years ago, I knew that would be the title for my album someday.
