Meet John Cathey, Bombshell’s Technical Designer.
John translates concept renderings created by our team or supplied by clients into the detailed drawings and 3D models our shop uses to fabricate custom environments and installations.
Since joining Bombshell in 2022, his work has touched nearly every project that moves through the studio. He is also our resident expert in 3D printing, producing both prototypes and finished components for client activations and installations.
John grew up working in carpentry alongside his father, which sparked an early appreciation for how things are built. Today he brings that same hands-on mindset to every project that moves through the shop.
He is also a proud father to a young daughter who already enjoys drawing and he encourages her curiosity in much the same way he approaches his own work: by figuring out how ideas can take shape in the real world.

She’s a 35-year veteran of global Broadway touring and operational leadership roles supporting multiple Super Bowls, US Open Championships, Ryder Cups, PGA tournaments, Formula 1 events, and major television productions at Warner Bros and CBS.
At Bombshell, she keeps contracts tight, shipments tracked, vendors aligned, and crews moving. She builds the structure that lets bold creative happen.
And if you’re lucky, she might tell you about the oddities and animals she’s transported across the globe.

We pulled from the ritual, focus, and intensity of tournament play and turned it into a bold, high impact brand environment centered on strength and recovery.
This is where athletic authenticity meets elevated materials. A colostrum wellness brand positioned exactly where it belongs, inside the culture of competitive sport. 💪🔥

For @_sportbeach_@cannes_lions 2025, we turned a sneaker into a story. Our artist, trained in fine leathermaking and sports shoe design, sculpted a sand finish that celebrates Fort Lauderdale’s coast while carrying TEAM’s signature flag to Cannes.

For Miami Art Week at SCOPE, Bombshell transformed a blank coastal footprint into a sculptural lounge for J.P. Morgan Chase Sapphire Reserve, a space designed to feel less like an activation and more like an inhabitable installation. Spanning 7,500 square feet and executed on a six-week timeline, the environment merged architecture, hospitality, and cultural fluency, earning an Honorable Mention for Best Festival Activation at the 2025 Experience Design Awards.
